A night game in Dowdy-Ficklen might turn out to be a trap. This is a game we should winbu all acounts but we might get the all or nothing effort from the Pirates here.

ECU is a bit of a mystery this year. The 3-4 record is deceiving. They haven't beaten a P5 or AAC team yet. 2 of 3 the wins are against FCS schools. That scheduling quirk was caused when VT canceled the series on them after Whit Babcock insisted ECU play a game in a hurricane a while back.

The guy that makes the Pirates go is QB Holton Ahlers who we temporaily destroyed in last years game. Ahlers was a one time UC recruiting target. He has thrown for ~1500 yards and is the teams second leading rusher. The offense is reasonably balanced on the stat sheet. They spread the welath on offense but the main guy other than Ahlers is Blake Proehl at WR. They play USF at 2:45 ET on Saturday if you want to check them out.

ECU got drubbed at home by South Florida for homecoming. FInal score was 45-20. The 20 included an opening KO return of 100 yards by ECU so it's really even worse than it looks.

I have the cbs sport app (free with direct tv and 247 sports, but I can't find what channel the game is on. Does anyone know? Never mind it popped up on my tv schedule.

By all accounts this should be a blowout. The line was 23 points which is a big line on the road. If ECU can avoid turnovers they could beat the spread...UC's TO forcing defense has been amazing to watch.

Have never seen them play this bad, at least on defense.

Every game this year seems sloppy and full of penalties and mistakes. DB's are getting torched on every play, they look horrific.

They are forcing the passing game with Ridder. UC should be running it more with Warren and Ridder. Not only will it be more effective, but it also keeps ECU's offense off the field.
