The Athletic’s Matt Fortuna is reporting Lawton is in the transfer portal. No one seems to know why so far. He was looking at a lot of playing time next year.

I'm guessing here but there's a possibility he wants to play with his brother Mari who we've also offered for 2023. With the D-Line decommits in the 2022 class, it's possible that Mari was told to look elsewhere by the staff at which point Zeiqui opted out. Semi-educated guess.
