Anyone seen Collin Lozier from Colerain play. He has been given preferred walk-on status according to the football board on Bearcatinsider. Haven't heard much from him, but imagine that there are some Colerain guys out there that have seen him play. UC has had some success in the walk on ranks in the past.

I love signing day....I also love not starting my new job until the 9th so I can do nothing but watch it and then drive down tonight.

I graduated from Colerain in 2007 and i played with him and watched him the last 2 years. Colin was the best defensive player on the team easily. He is about 6'1"-6'2" and about 210-220 lbs. He is built real sturdy because the guys legs are freakin huge. And for a a guy his size he is extremely quick and has 4.6-4.7 40 yard dash kinda speed. The thing I love about him is his pursuit to the ball, he is relentless when it comes to getting to and hitting the ball carrier. And when he was on scout team D when I was a senior he was easily the hardest hitter on the field. It would not surprise me if he gets a little faster and adds 10 pounds by his sophomore year, earns a scholarship and gets ALOT of playing time hus Junior season. He is clutch as well, he won a game in OT for Colerain this season when he CRUSHED the ball carrier in the backfield and forced the fumble and then recovered it. He is well rounded in everything but the only weakness he has is pass coverage, he is strong when it comes to intensity, how hard he hits, pursuit to the ball, stuffing the run and ability to shed blockers. Honestly I have no idea why he wasn't getting serious high D-1 interest but he could turn out like Terrill Byrd and Dominick Goodman as colerain kids who were overlooked and became stars.

A quick note on Terrill Byrd, i dont know if people know this but his senior year at colerain he has 25+ sacks and was national defensive player of the year and o yeah he maxed out on the bench press at 600 pounds.

Troy Evans was a walk on for UC in this same mold.

He worked his way to starter, to captain and to a 7+ year NFL career.

Let's not over exaggerate Byrd's physical prowess in high school. It is very true that he was a freak in the weight room with over 400 + bench but that is nowhere near 600 lbs. In fact that's not even what he maxed out as a senior bearcat. Non the less the Colerain connection has provided us with some phenomenal production on the field. It sounds like this Lozier guy may be a special teams beast in year or two.

          Thanks for the info.....

FYI - Jordan Stepp is benching over 400 currently.

I think the 600 lbs was actually Byrd's leg press stats.

Man I was really loving everything the THE ONE said until Byrd's 600 lb bench press. That would be a new world record. I cant wait to see his proday stats. He will probably rep 225 lbs 80 times.

I hope he meant leg press.

sorry about that it should have read 500 but thats his max out which means he only put it up one time, as a senior at colerain he could bench 400 i believe somewhere around 15-18 times and i should know i was in his lifting group because i was a defensive lineman

The one 32. DOes Colerain have any budding stars in the system? Who are some of the players that might end up at UC down the road? Any big-time players? Colerain always has athletes.

Junior LB Jarrett Grace - could be the best player period on the team... will only be a junior next season and a 6'4" 210 pound MLB with room to add weight is incredible, his speed, athleticism, football IQ and hard hitting is the best i've seen at LB for colerain since tyler moeller... could end up being a four or five star recruit, seriously

Senior LB Tyon Dixon - not a typical linebacker size but his height and frame could add easily 20 pounds at 6'2" 200 lbs. he is crazy fast and hits like a freight train

Junior RB Tyler Williams - will be a junior, little scat back at 5'7", trammell williams little brother runs a sub 4.40 40 and is lightning quick makes defenders look ridiculous, he could have a percy harvin effect if he gets stronger

Junior RB/FB Trayon Durham - a man amongst boys, he is huge 6'2"-6'3" 220-230 lbs. and is fast, runs like he wants to hurt somebody, think Mister Simpson but bigger, faster and smarter. He is prolly my favorite player, when colerain played sycamore on FSN Ohio this past season he became Dave Lapham's favorite player and nicknamed him Bull Durham LOL

Senior RB Spencer Ware (will transfer from princeton) - already talked to him and he plans on transferring to Colerain where his grandma lives. He is being recruited as a RB so he wants to play one year at the position.

Senior TE Brett Weiler - big, physical tight end with some definite ball skills. He is huge at 6'4" 235 lbs. and seems like he has decent speed.

Senior LB Donte Mixon - little brother of cobrani mixon, he can be as dominant as any player in the state when he wants. played out of position last season but he will move back to LB. He is big at 230 lbs. but short at about 6'0" but hits like a ton of bricks and has GREAT speed.

Senior WR Monte Ivory - think Eugene Clifford. Great speed, hands, quickness, size.... pretty much the overall package but has some issues with the coaches but could be a top flight recruit

Senior CB Darius Godrey - a big corner at 6'0" he can cover with the best of them in Ohio and I've seen alot of the CBs... he is quick to the ball, fast, good closing speed and good ball skills, reminds me ALOT of someone named Mike Mickens

Sophomore QB Dustin Smith - he was the best freshman last season and wont start on varsity until Greg Tabar leaves which Greg is a senior. So Dustin will start as a junior and wow is this kid good. He has grown in the offseason to about 6'2" and doctors say he will grow 2 more inches. He has 4.5 legit speed, a decent arm for a kid his age and already know the triple option offense (impressive). If his arm develops the way it should, he already has the running ability, he has the potential to be a four or five star recurit and the future of the Bearcats spread offense. There is also a video on youtube just search colerain football and look for colerain freshman highlights 2008 and its just him LOL... he looks small and his arm looks bad in that video but I have seen him within the past week working out at soccer city and he is at least 6'2" and arm looks 1,000% better which mechanics and strength.

Trayon Durham and Tyler Williams get seconded from me, both are D1 recruits. If Tyler would grow a little and put on some weight he could be a huge recruit as he runs a 4.4 (same exact weight/height/40 as Richie Dyer of Moeller IMO). Durham is a tank and trucks people like no other on varsity as a Sophomore. I hope UC gets their hands on both of these kids who were only Sophomores this past season.

Colerain will win state at least once in the next two years. I'm hoping the Big Moe takes it this year when Galvin/Rush/Hendrix are Seniors and then the Cards can take it next year when the Williams/Durham combo are seniors .

Thanks for the updates. It's nice to get these about area kids. Especially from someone as close to the prgram. Keep 'em coming!

Although I can't help but question the numbers. Sub 4.4 40 (does this mean 4.3?) for someone who is currently in the middle of his sophomore year in high school? Wouldn't that be world-class speed? For someone that young? There may only be a couple college kids in this year's NFL draft with that kind of speed. Same with Dustin Smith. If the 4.5 speed is legit...why is the kid playing QB?

This is very common among the high school ranks. When you get to college you learn what a 4.4 really is. I had a high school teamate that ran a supposed 4.3 in high school and he was realistically a 4.5-4.6 guy. High school coaches tend to start that stop watch a little late and stop it a little early.

And I still am not buying the 500lb bench press. If this is all true i expect Byrd to rep 225at least 45 times. To put that in perspective the highest at last year's combine was 36.

the 40 times are usually taken at Michigan Camp or Ohio State Camp and are a little off because they are usually wind aided but are pretty close... the Terrill Byrd thing is definitely true and the reason that kid is play QB running a 4.5 40 is because right now colerain is loaded at running back at every level and our QB needs to be fast in the triple option offense.
