Terrible turf warning and a weird start time for this one. Pitt should be a much better test of where we are as a team after yesterday. Somebody needs to pull the River CIty Rivalry trophy out of storage for this. I'd like to beat Pitt on their own field just for helping pull the rug out from under the Big East.
Pitt is mostly reliant on QB Phil Jurkovec who transferred in from BC. He's a mostly a pocket passer that threw for 214yds against FCS Wofford yesterday in a 45-7 victory for the Panthers. It's hard to tell against FCS teams but it looks like a pretty balanced attack and running back by committee.
Here's the box score from Wofford:

It's almost too early in the season for comparitive stats between UC and Pitt but on paper we had the better offense this past weekend.
ESPN predictor is only giving us a 40% chance of winning and I think that's probably wrong.
TV for this game is a national (?) broadcast on the CW Network. This is the first time we've ever played a game on that network. CW is available over the air locally with an antenna, on cable TV or through streaming services (in theory). I think we established that Raycom Sports is handling this non conference broadcast for the ACC. I have no idea what announcers we're going to get or how good the broadcast will be, etc. Can't be any worse than playing Marshall on Facebook Watch Live though.

So, the teams that were picked preseason last and second to last in the Big 12 both beat Pitt. I like where WVU alternate colors in the sections. Also, WVU fans sing an interesting rendition of Sweet Caroline.

We all got our hopes up from this win, but it turns out PITT just isn't very good... and neither are we.

I tried to type this earlier and it went into the ether. Richard has it right. if the offense subs, the refs have to allow the defense to sub and the ref will stay over the ball until both teams change personnel. There were times where we had momentum when I wish we would have gone hurry up to stop them from doing that.Originally posted by richard k. View Post
What I don't understand is that while the refs let defense players onto the field (no doubt in answer to the offense making substitutions) why isn't the play clock suspended? It seemed to me that several times the clock almost ran out with the official standing over the ball.

I noticed that as well. I'm wondering if that was gamesmanship by Narduzzi to run someone on late in order to not let us get a good look at the defensive personal before a rushed snap.Originally posted by richard k. View Post

don't forget, the ACC network is produced by espn, not by the cw - you should see a good productOriginally posted by Bearcatdave72 View Post
Totally agree. The announcer are broadcasting ACC so a little bias is expected, but i thought they did a great job. Very informative and the camera work was very good. Definitely a good watching experience for the CW.

rooting awfully hard for Pitt. Maybe that was in hopes of
keeping the game interesting, I dunno.

The officials were BigXII officials. We may see more of the same this season.

Gotta beat the line for dinner at Primanti Brothers.Originally posted by Bearcat93 View PostI was also there, strange crowd……literally thousands of Pitt fans left at halftime where the game (obviously) was still o Lu a 2 score game. I’ve never experienced that at a college football game before-thousands of home fans bailing in their team at half.
The stadium upper deck offered some outstanding views, sunset was particularly awesome. Did seem like less Cincy fans than I thought would be there.
We tailgated with the Republic of Cincy-fantastic set up & vibe, thank you Mike & company @ Republic Of Cincinnati!
