Well I guess we will see. I like the RBs and the speedy wr. I am concerned with the o-line. The defense is led by one of the best , but can the rest of the team hold on. I am not enthused about the coaching, but winning changes that.

We have had this coach (CSS)for one season, I recall others calling for Wes Millers head after his first season, can’t coach, has wrong lineup etc. where are those comments now??? Last year football season was a big disappointment, particularly having to watch Emory Jones, but we were competitive enough to have won 4 more games. Let the season play out, and if Satt falls on the sword you are all welcome to pile on. I for one am encouraged by our new players from the portal
along with those guys coming back. The Big 12 is a Big Boy league and we’ll see how we stack up after a roster refresh. In the mean time, go to the beach and enjoy your summer

Of course it wasn’t. Either he was asked to do things he can’t, or he just didn’t have the ability. Either way, the staff tolerated that level of play when they clearly shouldn’t have. It was the worst example of coaching up a QB I have ever seen.

I have the feeling the original OC ditching us has a lot to do with it. Seems like the offense was extremely watered down all season. Can you imagine being a college QB and getting the playbook and poof, everything is different in spring ball. What do you do?

I will say one thing really quickly. The fact that Emory Jones got a UDFA deal in the NFL tells me the problem wasn't entirely on him.

When that NFL team realizes Emory Jones can't complete a 10 yard pass, he won't be around long. Every NFL team needs warm bodied QB's for training camp

Long rant. Difficult to read and not respond to every point. But the one point I will make is the season ticket sales do not seem to have suffered. So, there must be some excitement surrounding the program.

I have my doubts about CSS. The truth is he needs a legitimate OC and needs to give up that aspect of coaching. The play calling last year was so bland and predictable and that falls squarely at CSS’s feet.

Trust your gut......you hear that, you live that, my gut says this isn't the right guy for the program......he's not an up and comer that needs a few years to grow into the head coaching position..... he is established.....and that is not impressive....
This AD bailed out Loserville.... They got their guy. We got their trash and hauled it off for free for them..... I said it TRASH! ONE year used to be not enough........ Well it is now and there has been a whole year to evaluate...... No excitement, no improvement. We wont have a sucker to bail us out like Loserville did........

BASH MY OPINION it doesn't matter any more than yours does. I feel let down as a fan, as a fan who would love to see Cincinnati succeed to the next level........unfortunately the coach is NAIA level at best

You may well be right with an ex cellent summary, but A) we cannot afford to buy him out, and B) no coach would trust us for hiring and firing a guy after one season playing with little recruiting and another coach's players. Please renew this discussion next August. If Satt is failed miserably this year, he will be on the hottest of seats and could be yanked after 3-5 games. However, he will get a chance to show progress is made by the beginning of year 3 at a minimum.

I will respectfully disagree but you're certainly entitled to your opinion. In fact, it's no doubt your's is more commonly held (that we can't afford it).

First thing though, I said after this year, which would be firing him after year 2. Not year 1. That's a pretty big difference, and I definitely think worth clarifying. To each their own, but I also don't buy for a second it would scare off any prosepctive coach. The money, and more importantly the guarantees, is what is most important. And if Scott Satterfield and this team are as bad as I expect them to be this season then I don't think anyone would find fault in the program moving on after two seasons. I think most people can look at the situation (W/L's, recruiting, staff, and lack of support) and see there would be nothing unfair about it.

As far as not being able to afford it, I would STRONGLY argue they can't afford not to. I find the conservative approach here is small-minded and completely missing the big picture. You give this guy another year to save, what, an extra 4-7 million that you have had to pay had you you done it a year prior?

When your program is being destroyed, and another given season is only continuing to make the rebuild that much harder, is it really worth it? With around 100 millon dollars already invested into Nippert and facilities, and another 80 mil being poured into a practice facilty, is now really the time to sweat such a small amount in comparison? And what of the potential loss in ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise? If you were to account for that would that not offset at least some of the cost? Also, what of NIL funding, and donations to school? Surely, if this year is another disaster, these will all suffer.

No legitimate program allows this to continue beyond this season without serious improvement. There's currently nothing to build off of, or sell fans on. Excitement is nowhere to be found. The recruiting and portal certainly aren't being used in any way that breeds anything remotely resembling confidence. It's bad. All of it. The quality of the marketing has dropped off, the quality of the social media has dropped off, and the vibe and relationships around the city have dropped off.

This dude is litterally killing the program. Notthing is excciting or cool about him or his program. There is absoltely no buzz. You can FEEL it, or the lack thereof. It's all been completely deflated. And it sure seems prospects and other coaches can see it as well. I don't think too many people want to have anything to do with this dumpster fire. The writing is already on the wall, he's a lame duck. The sooner they move on the better. Because long term, the damges he's causing way outweigh the cost of buying him out.

Please update your editorial after UC goes 4-8 this year. Yes, we did get a couple of nice transfers, but by and large, most were average players from lower division schools. Nobody talks much about UC FB now, and a good friend of mine, who has had season tickets for 35 years, did not renew this year. I hope we can go 7-5, but my gut feeling is that it is going to be another looooooong season. Success will put an immediate end to any and all negativity.

I agree with much of your assessment especially with CSS bringing his homies with him from UL who have no history of producing football players. His sticking with Emory Jones for the entire season was a joke and turned my enthusiasm for UC football to non existent. And watching his post game presser's are predictable and generic coach speak. With that being said it's unfortunate but whoever it was that lobbied for this hire probably has enough sway to force this contract to continue in duration. And it's safe to say that there is no one willing to pay his buy out to bring him somewhere else.
