I remain confused how we got a defensive delay of game on 4th down. Confused, as in, what happened? What did we do? I was never able to figure out what happened.

I read it was mimicing the QB cadence to try to get the center to snap early. I'd love to have seen us make a stop on that 4th down to escape, but that fantom call led to the long gain after the refs gave Pitt a 1st down.

On to positives.

Sorsby took a beating out there and completed some really nice passes under pressure in the first half. He's the guy. He went for 200 yards in the first half until Pitt adjusted in the 2nd half. The pass to Mayes was absolute perfect placement.

Royer is a weapon. He's going to to the NFL. Mark it down.

Kiner had 149 yards today and racked up a lot them up in the 4th and should have had more.

I thought I’m calm down by now, and be just bummed about the loss. But I don’t feel that, all I have is anger. The only adjustments this rotten staff made in the 4th Qtr are the adjustments that lost the game. Critical time, 2nd and two, do they run Corey, the short yardage back, up the middle? No, they ran Pryor off tackle for a loss of two. Then, they didn’t know how to adjust to Pitt pressure on Sorsby and had to punt, game over. Anger. They tried to run clock the entire 4th Qtr. Anger.

This! That infuriated me and to be honest if you can stop them on offense anyway, why the **** didn't we go for it on 4th and run more clock? It would have at least made them burn a time out before 4th down.

The playing not to lose is a pattern with the staff. Don't get it. This would be much a more palatable loss had we been aggressive in the 2nd half.

I'm not going to throw Veidt under the bus. We don't currently have to talent to run this scheme. That's going to take another year at least. The scheme is designed to bend and not break and the defensive backfield broke today on several occasions.

I've seen several social media posts blaming Carter Brown for the missed kick today. It was absolutely not Brown's fault. Snap was good but he kicked the laces dead on. Plain as day on replay. Mason Fletcher has to spin that ball so the laces are out. That said special teams had a lot of missed opportunities today on coverage. The punt that rolled into the endzone was a coverage failure. Not because our guy couldn't keep it out of the endzone but because Fletcher held the ball before the kick and we only had one guy downfield to make a play. Everyone else got fooled by a fake fair catch.

That's enough negativity for now on my part.

Absolutely. At that place on the field you have 3 plays to make 2 yards. What you absolutely can’t do is lose yards on 2nd down, which is exactly what they did. Anger.

Then we’re a basketball school for the foreseeable future. My seats will be empty against Houston, and I won’t give them to my neighbor. That will be my protest. I may not attend another game this year. There is no hope for this football program.
