Pittsburgh 9/7 12:00 ESPN2
Starting a little early because they named a starting QB in Alabama transfer Eli Holstein, a RS-Freshman. Unfortunately, they just lost their starting RB, Rodney Hammond Jr. to ineligbility. No details there so far. Seems like strange timing to make that ruling.Tags: None

Was that crew neutral or ACC ? I've never seen that ref before but I don't know all the Big 12 guys yet and not sure I know any ACC refs.Originally posted by Bearcat Chris View PostSaw CSS on TV. He had some serious questions on that late 4th and 4 play where a ref, 25 feet away, in a nearly full (and loud) stadium, could have heard a UC player try to verbally give off a false cadence. I do agree with CSS, that the ref was trying to help Pitt, which he did. Wonder how much money that SOB had on the game?

I don't know if the new building had anything to do with the actual hire to be honest. Money buys influence though.
Also, to my knowledge, the Lindners are not the donor in question.
I've told a few friends this and I'll repeat it here: I much prefer a system where fans support, donors financially support, players play, coaches coach and administrators administrate. It's when people get out of their lane too far that issues like this happen with programs.
To be clear, It's not just here that this kind of thing happens. Every school has prominent donors who get their way in major decisions whether it be in sports or academics. The Haslams at Tennessee come to mind immediately. ADs have to toe a a fine line where decisions are made that don't end the money train from this type of donor. It's a political part of the job that I would never want. You really can't say no or tell them to butt out when they are handing you buildings.
I've seen a lot of calls on the internet for John Cunningham to be fired and I get the sentiment but that doesn't fix the issue really. The next guy will have the same donor to deal with. John's a very smart guy. He's running into a lot of interference in trying to get his job done the right way and in this case said donor is making him look bad. He may end up being the fall guy in this mess which is pretty unfair.

who gave that building and was it a carrot in front of Cunningham's selection of Satt? Lobot what do you think?

That was a horrible call, but the worst call of the day was at the end of the ND-NIU game where on 4th and 2, NUI needed a first down to run out the clock. The NIU running back made it by what looked like 2 yards, but the refs (and announcers) said he was short. Replay showed his knee never went down, and he easily made it. ND got the ball back, and could have won. This whole "gambling thing" really has me wondering about the outcomes of many games. I worry more about the refs throwing a game than I do the players.Originally posted by Lobot View Post
Disconcerting signals is when the defense simulates the the snap count from the offense. I've always figured this was pretty common on the field but to call it in that moment is BS.

Confused, as in, what happened? What did we do? I was never able to figure out what happened.

Value Engineer out $15m from the new building to send Satterfield out of town. The players don’t need to be pampered while losing anyways. I know the buyout would be the most our university has seen, I guess I’m just trying to understand the impact. Don’t spend $15m or whatever it is now, lose and be god awful for two years going forward, and still pay about $9m to fire him after we’ve cast ourselves as the worst program in P4?! There’s 35,000 seats in Nippert. If each seat donated just $450 one time, there’s your buyout.

to his credit, Satt bragged that the Cats played well for 3.5 quarters. As we all should know, the game is 4 quarters.Originally posted by Big_Daddy_Bearcat_07 View PostThe “donors” everyone refers to are the Linder Family. They need to put the money up and send Satterfield on his way. Anger is the best way to sum up my feeling on the team since he took over. He had zero passion at the end of the game. He shared a chuckle at the handshake with Narduzzi. He’s a natural loser.
