In 2005, 25,893 watched as the Mountaineers embarrassed the Cats, 38-0. In 2004, Nippert was home to the largest crowd of the Narduzzi era, 30,368, as Ben Roethlisberger shredded UC, 45-26.

*The attendance would've been 27,805, but I was sitting in an auditorium at NKU watching my daughter's opera performance. While she did well, I sat there most of the evening in the dark about the game. I turned on the radio as soon as I got to my car and heard Jim Kelly whooping it up in the background.

Bottom line: Pat was never close to the kind of crowd that could make The Nip loud. Besides, by his own admission, he spent the 1st three quarters in the booth as DC, which certainly muffled whatever noise there was. By the 4th, there usually weren't very many butts in seats back then.
I don't think Narduzzi can turn the speakers up loud enough to get ready for what Nip has become. The latest expansion did something to the accoustics, and noise reverbates like an opera house. I was at that Rutgers game with my 4 yo son, though would've missed the game for another performance by him or his sister just like you did.

    Let's Rock the Nip Saturday!

Oddly enough he's now saying that Pitt practiced with the speakers up to prepare for said noise level.

Something to watch here is the reason why. They want to go really fast a la UCF. They practiced against noise so they would be used to it and wouldn't miss a beat

Uniswag on Twitter is reporting that we have never worn this combo before.

Pat Narduzzi's first contact with UC football included a major blunder. While his dad, Bill, was head coach at YSU in 1985, Pat was a starting LB as a freshman. I attended the UC-YSU game in Youngstown that year, and it was a nail-biter. The Penguins scored in the final 1:30 or so to take a 27-22 lead.

The Bearcats were able to drive inside the YSU 5 and, with no TO's left, they reached the 1. Reggie Taylor took a handoff and tried to dive over the pile at the goal line. The line judges marked him short, and the clock was still running. There was no way to get off another play. Narduzzi to the rescue. He laid on top of Taylor and wouldn't let him get up. The ref stopped the clock and allowed UC to line up. Taylor's next dive succeeded. Final: UC 29-27.

It could point to arguable to highest of high’s for our program, while at same time demonstrating a product on the field that’s far from it. I get why you feel that way. I'm a little nervous about this one. I think this game will tell us a lot about Satterfield's focus on winning at home this season and his ability to motivate the team. I'm hoping the team uses the 2008 celebration for motivation.

Pitt isn't the program is used to be either at this point in time. I'm kind of shocked Narduzzi is still there after last season to be honest. However, all indications are that they fixed the offensive scheme problems from last season with the new OC and QB.

Narduzzi will be in for a shock when he sees the stadium and fan support I suspect. I don't think he's been back in any capacity since Dantonio took him to MSU.

Is that a normal work-day where people can take off? We are doing river clean-ups Tue and Wed that week, but the river could use attention every day for weeks to get all of the trash. Thanks for volunteering!
