  • Current State of UC Football Program

    1. I have missed 3 home games since 1974, and have never seen anything as "ugly" as what happened today.
    2. The 3-5-3 defense is not working..... no pressure on opposing QB.
    3. Missed/blocked FG against Miami last year, and today's 32 yard miss cost us both games.
    4. Very concerned that this year's team is loaded with Seniors. Cupboard will be empty for next year..... ugh
    5. Great excitement and crowd today. What a letdown. Crowds will continue to drop off.
    6. Miami is tough at home, and Gabbard is a 6th year QB. Will be a tough game next week.
    7. Likely wins for us this year: Houston, Arizona State, and perhaps Miami.
    8. CSS has been given a fair chance, and what I saw today with the complete breakdown, tells me that he needs to go, as next year will be no better with so few seniors. 2021... great memories, that will never be repeated in my lifetime.

    Time for my migraine medicine.

We’ll put. I agree with everything you said.

With Brian Kelly on the hot seat at LSU, any interest in bringing him back?

BK did us dirty, but I'd be willing to forgive him and have him return.

Freeman won’t last at ND. ND is going to demand to plays for a NC before 2025 and it’s just unrealistic. I’d love to see him come back the timing might align with the buyout drop offs for Satterfield.

No way. He has done nothing at ND to make me think he would succeed here. Refs tried to throw the game for ND at the end, but it didn't work.

He was my choice last time, with his Dad a special consultant. Would he leave the pros? If the Chargers do well, he is set for a NFL HC job.

I agree with #2 "3-5-3 defense not working" but I don't see how the players can be expected to embrace a new defensive scheme once the season has started. I think the team is again stuck with it this year. The only fix I can see is to blitz a LB frequently.

It bothers me to see Satterfield on the sideline. He does NOT engage the players during timeouts. Just walks around on the sideline with his white board. Looks completely disengaged This is the same thing Tubby did. Kelly, Butch and Fickell were right in the mix with the players every timeout.

i wonder where he stood, if at all, on the list last time? was he on the short list, or the short bus?

Interesting observation. I hadn't picked that from him on TV.

I saw some post something elsewhere along the lines of he's low energy and not enthusiastic at all about what he's doing. Makes you wonder why he ever left App St. other than the money.

I've tried not to draw parallels to Tuberville and give the guy a chance, but stuff keeps pointing in that direction.

How did we end up with Satterfield?

No one else was interested in getting beat up going into the Big 12?

Did the donors and boosters push for Satterfield vs a younger, up and coming coach?

Seems to me that the meteoric rise of Marcus Freeman really screwed up everything – he would have been the perfect replacement for Fickell.

Freeman has not exactly set the world on fire at ND.

No, but I think that's a level beyond his experience... he was probably better suited to take over a program like UC that he had a hand in building before a job like that.

No, but there is time to finish strong.. He has a good squad, but many are concerned about his failure to beat teams that he should. He has recruited better than Kelly so there are high expectations.
