Satterfield has let go of Kerry Coombs per Football Scoop. They are also reporting that Satterfield has made contact with candidates, one of which had been here before in some capacity. That person turned them down

Colerain is interviewing head coaching candidates next week, per Mike Dyer. Maybe Kerry will throw his hat in...Originally posted by leo from jersey View Post

He's 63. I actually have no idea whether he would jump back to Colerain and try and resurrect the program but they could do a lot worse than a guy with a lot of college and pro experience. Or he could travel. He's made a bunch of $ doing thisOriginally posted by GoBearcats31 View Post

Not sure Kerry, at 63 could relate to the kids at today's Colerain, like he did to a different group of kids (including his son) 20 years ago. Still, I wish him the best. He did recruit some real studs for us over the years.

Glad to see him go. He might be a good recruiter and motivator but IMHO a really lousy DB coach. I don't remember a time where when he was in charge of defensive backs, we had a reasonable pass defense. The backs could stay with the receivers but they hardly ever turned their head to find the ball and make a play. Practically anyone would be an improvement.
PS Just saw the Kerry Coombs thread where it seems my opinions are echoed.Last edited by Greg7173; 12-11-2024, 08:40 AM.

Makes a little bit of sense just on the basis that he was a holdover from the last DC. "Let go" makes it sounds like he wasn't fired. He was, although I have no idea what the cause was.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostKeegan Nickoson of BCJ says UC has let go co-DC Nate Fuqua after two seasons.
Per his UC bio, it is pronounced FEW-quay, which I would not have guessed.Brent Wyrick

If he is moving to a bigger role, and I assume a larger paycheck, is this really purge or turnover?Originally posted by Lobot View PostPurge complete. Asst. DBs coach Wes Fleming has jumped to CMU in a bigger roleRed and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

This one is just turnover but you'd think he would've had feelers out after the rest of the position coaches over him were let go.Originally posted by red_n_black_attack View Post

His last two stops have been for a year each. Is he a hard charger and what the Cats need in the back end?Originally posted by Lobot View PostPer 247's Matt Zenitz, Adam Braithwaite is expected to be UC's next Safeties coach. He's coming over from Samford as a DC and has experience as a DC at Tennessee Tech also.
