Shouldn't this be in the basketball coaching carousel thread?

Stanford has hired veteran NFL coach Frank Reich as the school's interim football coach for the 2025 season, it was announced Monday.

Both sides have agreed it will be only a one-season deal, sources told ESPN. Stanford will launch a national search to find a permanent replacement for fired coach Troy Taylor at the end of the 2025 season.

Me thinks Stanford will start their search now and may even land on someone during the season. Reich has a personal relationship with Luck, and will have a good influence on the program. Honestly, with NIL, I think more programs should hire coaches or consultants with professional experience since they've had to deal with some interesting player personalities who've come into big money.

Stanford can forget about reeling in any quality recruits for the next year or so. There's no way Frank Reich will be involved, anymore than Andy Kennedy was permitted to do so when he was UC's interim basketball coach. They do have Andrew Luck as GM, but he's going to be occupied with running the overall program, including finding a coach.

Not likely. I don't see a world in which any P4 AD puts his football program in the hands of a coaching novice.

I am not advocating for it. I am just reporting it. However, a P4 AD did put his football program in the hands of a losing coach that UL loved to see leave.

Two points: 1. Cunningham isn't doing that; 2. Technically, CSS had a winning record at UofL (25-24). Not great, but not losing.

IMHO with things the way they are, why not take a chance? Luke has a far greater upside than Satterfield.

at this point, uc is putting its finances (granted, i get the importance of those - even if the issues are self inflicted) above results. the 'cats can flounder as one of the bottom P4 teams, or try to man up and try to win. admit a mistake and move one. Luke K. may not be the answer, but I really don't think that CSS is either (or Wes Miller, for that matter).we all were so happy to get in the P4. what happens if there's consolidation, a super league, etc? that could happen. will we all be good getting relegated again?

to me, the future ain't looking too good. going forward, do i want to continue to dump money (season tickets, donations, etc) into this? it was a difficult decision this year, to renew my fball tixs. how 'bout you?
