  • Nebraska 8/28 ESPN 9:00

It's time. Let's see what this team is made of this year.

Nebraska is led by 5 star QB Dylan Raiola who could have gone anywhere and somehow ended up with Matt Rhule after a long crazy recruitment cycle.

NU has been in a bind since they fired Bo Pelini and moved to the B1G and frankly they haven't recovered from either of those moves. They have 5 NCs the most recent of which was sponsored by Sears.

UC is technically the home team here but since this game is being played at Arrowhead Stadium in KC, I expect a large Nebraska contingent for this game. What might save of us from this is the game backs up into Labor Day weekend so maybe our fans will travel as well.

I wanted to look at last years stats from NU to see who the WRs are that we need to handle and their athletics website is absolutely jacked up. It thinks Raiola threw 2819 INTs last year currently. If a pivot table tried to escape containment it would look like this.

Per espn.com the UC-NE game will be on ESPN (The Mother Ship). ABC/ESPN will air the US Open tennis tourney at that time. Other NCAA games will be on conference networks, for the most part, as well as streamed.

Don't underestimate NU. They have the 3rd best QB in the Big 10, and each year they have gotten better. Additionally, as Nebraska sits right above Kansas, and NU always travels well, expect 80% of the fans to be NU fans. The game is winnable for UC, but it will have to be a "perfect" game for us to pull this one out.

      B.C.

P.S. Tickets for the game on the internet start at $132 per seat. Expect a HUGE crowd.

NU's QB, Dylan Raiola was paid somewhere around $3M this season according to reports out there. He was the #1 QB recruit in the class of 2024. They spent money trying to get the program back on it's feet after dominating the 90s. He committed to tOSU and de-committed , then he jumped to Georgia and de-committed from UGA to go to Nebraska. He's the son of Dominic Raiola who played at NU and the NFL. His uncle is the O-line coach at NU.

This spot on for NU fans traveling.. I've heard estimates that Big Red bought 60,000 of the 76,000 available seats and possibly more.

Here is hoping we score early and often to take the crowd out of the game. I'm not ready to make a prediction, but this game will be close unless there's a lot of turnovers. My hope is Dylan tries too much flash and dance forcing things in where they're simply not there, and the Bearcats benefit from Sorsby's better decision making/maturity. Since most games come down to who makes the fewest mistakes/turnovers, I give UC the advantage. I also give UC the advantage there because Dontay is fully healthy and playing for draft position; he will disrupt making Dylan have to improvise.

WLWT / Channel 5 is reporting an unnamed UC football player was riding a scooter this morning and was hit by a car at Clifton/Straight. He is in stable condition and is expected to be discharged today -- hopefully nothing more than the minor Simas Lukosius situation from a couple years ago.

I'm going to make an assumption that he was not on the travel squad but I might be wrong.

Chad Brendel reported that the player was not expected to play tomorrow night. The University has not released the player's name (that I've seen).

Weather should be no factor. It certainly won't be hot. Current forecast at KO: 59F, wind 3 MPH, 0% precipitation.

doesn't seem like there's too much excitement for this game on the forum... I understand because of the last few years I guess but maybe if we win people will get more excited for football to be back...

Agreed. This is a nationally televised ESPN game, with no other football competition this evening, and there seems to be vey little interest. I guess that is what happens when you have two losing seasons in a row.

Near capacity at Arrowhead tonight. Their ticketmaster.com program has only 550 seats left. I didn't check after-market. This indicates probably a crowd around 75K.
