This will also be useful for official injury reports which are a thing in the Big XII this year. This is being done in part to get ahead of gamblers trying to get inside info from players and coaches on who's playing and who isn't.

This used to be a thing we didn't talk about for gamesmanship reasons as recently as the Fickell era but that was pre-gambling national blow up.

The Big 12 is taking away this player/coaches' revenue stream. Ha. Actually, this is the best explanation on why Yormark implemented injury reports. It helps with scouting and game planning too.

Today the Cincinnati Enquirer listed the top 25 local senior FB players, and not a single one committed to UC (3 did commit to UL), and only 1 even listed UC as a team they considered. A few years ago, at least three or four of these guys would have stayed home to play at UC. CSS just can't recruit locally, just as CTT couldn't.

I wish some signed with UC and more at least considered playing in the Big 12 for the hometown team, but NIL is a big factor in recruiting. Losing Kerry will play into how the Bearcats recruit in the future. It is unknown if it will help or hurt, though we have lost out on several local players since Kerry returned to the UC sidelines. In any case, the staff need to grow or regrow connections with the local high school coaches.

Zach Grant, UC's football GM, has explained that they have and will spend resources, first on retaining the players they want to keep, second on transfers, third high school kids. If they have to disburse millions of dollars, they don't want to spend it on undeveloped talent. The main exception might be O-linemen, for developmental purposes. That shrinks the pie for those kids. UC will continue to recruit high schools, but they're rarely going to pay top dollar for those kids.

I agree with UC’s approach. Why spend lots of NIL money on incoming freshman and saving it for players who have proven themselves on the field and can transfer in or retain those players.
