I'd switch out ISU for UH in the Eastern pod. Aims is driveable for WVU and UC, having two must fly schools in a pod doesn't make much sense. Plus the other schools probably don't want three new teams together in a pod where one grows strong at the expense of the others.

The other thing I'd propose is find a venue to have the Big 12 game of the week. One of the 9 conference games is played at this destination venue each week, kinda like a bowl game for teams that won't go bowling. The SEC could easily do this in Atlanta. Since travel is involved for both teams and their fans, the game must be Saturday night. This resolves the alternating 5 home games and 4 home games scheduling dillema. The game of the week also takes away homefield advantage and games there could be based on finish last year, 1 versus 2, 3 versus 4, 5 verus 6, and so on.
