First time that I have seen the mercy rule in college football. The rule is that if both coaches plus the referee agree, the third and fourth quarters can be shortened by 5 minutes each shortening the game by 10 minutes. That happened today. NWS dominated the time of possession but only converted one or two 3rd downs.

    My thoughts:
1 - the student section was great for the first half. 2 - we should have been able to force turnovers, and we did not except for one. 3 - in their third and long downs, UC should have stacked the box yet still stayed with three. 4 - Our punt returner was out of position to catch their short punts allowing many yards on the bounce after the kick. 5- stupid penalty in the last series of the game, that kid should be benched. 5 - UC looked good but they should have because NWS was just awful. I really applaud the young high school flag girl for following her dreams. She did a great job and should be very proud of performing on that stage at halftime.

In two weeks, NWS has been outscored 130 - 0. Wow, that is some stretch.

A thought I kept having through the entire game was, "How can this possibly be better than scheduling Miami-Ohio?" At least that game would have brought an atmosphere, and Miami would have pushed us a little bit. It is such a shame that playing Miami is done but we have this school coming in today.

Any reason to schedule these kind of matches? NWS was so bad turned off the tv after 3rd TD.

We should have the Nebraska as a home game and some decent team for the secong game. Get rid of the scheduler.

I believe Miami cancelled the series. They stated they could get a bigger payday from other schools.

I had to explain to the group next to us yesterday that the MAC schools are now getting bigger paydays from the B1G and the SEC (that includes Miami). Even the Mountain West are starting to get a look by those two conferences and soon the American. The B1G and SEC have agreed to phase out games against Div. 2 opponents. That makes it more difficult for the ACC and Big 12 to get decent matchups. Keep in mind that our quality OOC games are scheduled 6-10 years in advance. Some of those are cancelling on UC because of bigger paydays. I do not know how or why Northwestern State got on the schedule. I suspect that it was a replacement game.
