That was an epic beat down. I don't know that they recover from that to win the B12, unless they do something dramatic that works on defense. That said they only scored 14 points as well. Losing was perfectly understandable, getting dominated in embarrassing fashion on National TV is another. Every time you think Satterfield is turning it around, they have games like this every season with him, home or away, he doesn't win the big games.

So much for the "bend-but-don't-break" defense. It broke all the way last night. A few comments: 1) UC has one of the worst defenses in the BIG XII. For instance, currently UC is 12th in rushing defense (155 yards/g), 13th in pass defense (225.6 yards/g), and 11th in total defense, 2) based on the current win/loss records of all the conference teams, UC has not beaten a BIG XII team with a winning record. Kansas and Baylor are both 3-3 in the conference, and 3) UC has a somewhat favorable remaining schedule (Arizona, BYU, and TCU). Note that Arizona and BYU are home games. UC should be good enough to beat UA and TCU. UC cannot beat BYU

Utah dominated the time of possession 40:02 to 19:58 (unbelievable). Utah had the ball the equivalent of one quarter and five minutes more than UC.

Let's be honest here. UC's biggest problem is the defense. All three levels of UC football played like crap last night. However, bad defense is a long running problem with Satterfield's UC teams. It may be time to part ways with the defensive coordinator, maybe.

Why do UC's defensive backs play the man without playing the ball? UC's defensive backs never look back to locate the ball; never. There were a couple of moments in the game where the ball could have been intercepted if UC's D-backs looked for the ball. UC should end the season with a 7-2 conference record.

For those of you that want Satterfield gone, it ain't gonna happen this year. Satterfield is coming back because UC is going to a bowl game this post season. That means a lot to any administration. Also, if everything plays out in UC's favor, UC should have a 9-3 record at the end of the regular season; no less than 8-4. A coach typically is not let go with records like those.

A few things to ponder. When did the team arrive in Utah? Did they have enough time to get acclimated to the altitude? Did the late kick-off affect them? I think those things could have been a touchdown or two difference but not the whole game. However, I do not believe that UC has the worse defense in the city. Did you watch the bungles play today?

Lots of teams lose. A team every game. Lots of teams lose big from time to time. How many on this board were talking about their bedtime before this game started? There was a whole subthread about ours fans looking forward to bed at the very same time our team was supposed to play several time zones away, against a nationally ranked team, on national TV, when that school also had Gameday on their campus, and against a team Vegas predicted we would get smacked by. We lost. We made some mistakes. It happens. Remember, we are still not actually playing with a true Big XII roster. We are doing this with some holdivers and some leftovers, many of whom are actually very good. We are doing well overall.

People are yelling once again for CSS to get fired. What? For what? You wanted to see year over year improvement. 3 wins to 5 wins to 7 wins (and counting) fits that bill. You wanted to see us make a bowl game. We did that in the first 7 games of the season. You wanted to see reasons to think things are headed in the right direction. Well, for the last 4 weeks, we have been openly talking about winning the entire conference and there has even neen some outside playoff talk. Sounds like things are headed in the right direction.

Who are you going to bring in if you fire CSS? Have you seen the state of college ball right now? Schools with far larger payrolls than ours have lost their every-lovin' mind. I hear Brian Kelly is free. You want to go court him? Fire coach after he has checked a whole lot of the right boxes already this year, and the season isnt even over? That is just absurd. I am glad my own boss does not evaluate me that way. We lost a game we were expected to lose. Mistakes were made. But there is no question at all that we are doing better than any of us expected before the season. And soon, we can start paying full Big XII money to continue to add to the talent already present. We are much better than the post game comments would lead someone to believe.

If getting rid of that 3-3-5 requires getting CSS out of here, OK by me.

We have beaten the worst teams in the Big 12. Iowa State has turned into a "nothing" team this year, as has Kansas. We were lucky to miss Texas Tech and Arizona State. Win 2 of the final 4, and all sins will be forgiven.

BC, It could be worse. Houston lost to WVU which is the worst team in the conference.

On a side note, we lost Jake Golday last night. I hope that he can recover for the next game.

This. If you are ranked in the top 25 of college football teams nationally, you should at least be competitive in EVERY game you play. As others have stated, that was truly embarrassing.

Agreed. Unprepared and filled with mistakes. Is Evan Pryor that good? Let's see UC compete against a good team - right now, there's really only BYU. If we win that game, that'll answer part of it, but winning road games shouldn't or can't be too rare for good teams as they have 4-5 conference road games every year. We'd never make the CFP if we don't win too many of them.
