Off topic but I just watched the local news (WLWT 5) here in Cincinnati and they were talking about high school basketball where a team landed one of the top players in the region. It appears that NIL and paying players and the portal has reached the high school level. I thought that after Gerry Faust and Moeller, that was ruled against. How good would SMU be right now if they were not given the death penalty?

The state of ohio approved NIL for HS a couple of weeks back. If we thought 20 years olds with cash was bad how about what a 15 year old will do. Parents need to be parents and not agents.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post this but something just occurred to me.UC's investment in the Sheakley Center may turn out to be an inopportune disaster.The planning had to start 5-10 years ago...before the current NIL/free agency/portal nightmare. The Center was seen as a way to upgrade our facilities,complete in the Big 12 and attract top talent. Now it would appear that the only way to attract top talent is with top money. Something we have very little of because we spent it all on a new practice facility! These guys don't give a damn about practice,nutrition,education.They just want money! Maybe Cunningham should have seen this coming.
