    West Virginia 10/17 12:00 TNT

WV is led by QB Michael Hawkins Jr. As I mentioned in another thread, we recruited him and lost out on him to Oklahoma. Hawkins transferred to WV over the off season and has passed for over 1000 yards and run for another 650 or so. He's been responsible for 19 TDs already this season.

The Mountaineers are 3-3. They started hot and made it into the Top 25 after beating Virginia and promptly lost three straight in conference play. Two of those losses were at home vs OK St and Arizona. Arizona is our only common opponent so far . Arizona beat them 52-31 despite missing their top three receivers.

WV is beatable on their home turf but we're going to have score some points in the passing game in this to keep up. WV has Rich Rodriguez back as head coach and the offense reflects his style of play that we used to run into in the old Big East.

The 31 points WV scored against AZ concerns me. UC could only score 7 points on AZ, which was very late in the game after it had been decided. This has the potential to get out of control very quickly. I don't think UC can win this game and will fall to 4-2 on the season. Factor in that UC has never had much success against WV with a lopsided record in games played, it is not reassuring.

UC will probably need to score around 50 points to win this one. I doubt if they can put up that many points.

fun fact - just got an email about renewing tickets for 2027 - does anyone in the sales office have a clue? three plus years of mediocrity, probably heading for a train wreck this year, and
they're putting on a happy face for us all to renew NOW

Don't season ticket holders have until January 2027 to renew? I thought I read that in the email I received.

they do, and i think that you can string them along well into the spring, as our uc "neighbors" did last year. its just amazing to me that they're trying to your
commitment right now, before you get theirs - if this season goes way south, maybe past the equator, and CSS becomes more of a red headed stepchild,
it seems like they want your money, before you have a chance to "vote" with your money.

two years ago, i bought baseball season tickets, to support that team. We only went to one game, between starting times, work and grandkids games. My wife
went nuts, and, regretfully, I didn't buy them for 2026. But, I feel like the baseball team is worth supporting. I'll get those again for 2027, but, I'm truly considering
dropping our football tickets after this year. If this season ends like i think it will, and CSS is back, which I think he will be, i'm going to think long and hard before
I commit to FB tix again.

I auto-renewed for 2027. I've attended virtually every UC home game since I was a student in 1969—through thick and thin. [I received a letter near Labor Day, 1972, that begain, "Greeting from the President of the United States..." so I missed about twelve games back then. For those of you too young to know what that meant, the first Vietnam War era draft was the only lottery I ever "won".] If the Lord grants me another year, I'll be there next season.

No defense by either team today. WVU wins because it had the ball last. Absolutely atrocious defensive performance, especially on the final drive after a great punt to put WVU on the 1 yard line.

It never felt at anytime like we were going to win that game. Can we start a coaching search now?

An extra week to prepare...horrible tackling...penalties giving your opponent a first down...many more UC penalties not called...undisciplined.

Two games in a row we don’t kick a field goal on the road. It’s time for a change.

I knew UC would blow it at the end. IMHO, the better team lost today.

There were some positives. The offense did score 42 points and did convert on several occasions. The defense came up with some stops but the back end coverage wasn't very good, especially that last drive with the game on the line. And I feel like French processes his reads slowly and isn't quick enough to break free on a lot of his runs. Time will tell if he improves his reads but can't do much with lack of quickness. IMHO.

Never trailed until the clock showed zero.

Tabb is fun to watch at least, he'll get NFL attention. It's a shame that Satterfield simply cannot put together a competent defensive staff or roster. We can complain about French, but the guy had a 215 QB rating today, and almost 400 yds passing.

They can't stop anybody. They haven't given up less than 30 points in their last 4 games, they are comically bad.
