  • Best UC FB Player Nobody Remembers!

OK, to stimulate some new discussion during this slow time, I propose that all board members name a UC player, who nobody really remembers, from 1990 onward, who you would like to have back for next year.

Rembember, can't be Gino, Byrd, Peek, etc...... has to be a great player who never made it to the next level, somebody who nobody really remembers......

    I will start:

Nate Dingle. Linebacker from Maine brought in by Tim Murphy, who started for four years. Big, fast, and hard hitter. UC's linebacking core next year could use a solid player like Nate, as the D is going to be our weak spot after losing 10 starters.

    Your turn!

Joe Morrison never understood why his name is not on the ring of honor.

LaDaris Vann. Great college receiver that was too small to play in the NFL.

I am sure most remember them but Jon Olinger and Robert Tate were a couple of receivers to add to the list.

Unfortunately Joe passed away long before the Ring of Honor was instigated, However, he was a gifted and multi-talented player as 14 yrs. in the NFL would attest.

I remember Joe playing 3 on 3 hoops in the old gym and you couldn't get him off the court because no one would get in his way as he drove to the basket. What difference does it make that he died before the ring of honor was introduced - he had a terrific career as a Bearcat, an even better one as a NY Giant, and was a solid coach @ S. Car. I was always hoping he would return to his alma mater and save the football program here. (By the way he doesn't count for this thread since Chris said the player would have to be from 1990 on- unless he meant pre-1990.)

Allen Harvin. Hands down. Before he blew up hs knees he could have been the best RB in UC history, and maybe a RB on a par with Tony Dorsett. He was that good. Came back from his injury, but was never the same.

I am hoping this thread will be used by those newer to following UC football and they can go, Oh yeah, now that you mention him, I do remember him vaguely. The guy I like best from the last 15 years is Doug Monahan - safety from Colerain. He could hit, stop the run, and made a critical interceptions. The opposing team had to account for him on every play. I thought he would make it at the next level and do not remcall if he was injured at the end of his career??? Can anyone provide an update?

Here's a stretch... How about Bobby Fuller?

He was the one that was the "playmaker" in the Wisconsin game. He stripped the ball from Dayne in the 4th quarter.

How about David Small? Great back. 1200 yds his final year, I think. we went 8-3 with him in Murphy's final year? WE finished 26th in ESPN/USA today final poll (1991-92?) with Small.

Paul Anderson, QB. Separated a shoulder diving into the endzone to put us ahead at home against PennST. the year after the 81-0 debacle. We only lost when 2 missed tackles on OJ McDuffie (Dolphins) let to an 80 yd. run to put Penn st. up for good. Paul definately did his part. Great player.

Ronnie Dixon (NFL) , Jamie Crysdale (NFL), Ronnie Shannon, John Arena, Jocelyn Borgella, Chad Plummer, Robert Cooper, all great players that helped to put Cincy on the map!

Brad Jackson the linebacker that also walked on the basketball team with Huggs.

He was drafted by the Dolphins in 1998.

                              Great player - great athlete.
