Kelly also said that he had an offer from a "major BCS program" last year. But he wouldn't reveal which school it was.

Kelly would be a fool not to listen to ND if they are the BCS program that offered. I wouldnt blame him one bit for talking to them if they have already offered. I seriously doubt if anyone on this forum would not listen after an offer has been made.

What coach did Notre Dame take? I must have missed something.

I can just see it now...Swarbick "Brian the last time your opinion on abortion was against our policy...has anything changed this time...wink wink...God is watching?"

Kelly "Oh did I say that...let me rephrase...wink wink...(pounds chest points to sky)"

Swarbick "Oh Brian I think you'll fit right in how about a Guiness?"
I don't think that was ever an issue.
I have a kid at ND, and they are FREQUENTLY hiring pro-choice deans and professors up there.
And then there was the whole Obama thing this past spring...there are a lot of us who believe that Fr. Jenkins might even be pro-choice himself.

Not that any of that matters to me when I am looking for a football coach.

And really, do any of us really know BK's stance on abortion issues??

Notre Dame is not the Roman Catholic school that it was in the 50's and 60's (not the football power it was then, either!) It's more "in the Catholic tradition" these days than anything else. Not that anyone at ND would ever admit to it.

I believe he is refering to what some consider the imminent hiring of BK.

I still don't think he is going anywhere...

I hope he goes to the interview and procedes to give them names of available coaches like Bobby Bowden, Kragthorpe, and that up and comer Joe Paterno and then asks for a dessert to go.

Notre Dame must feel pretty strongly about bringing Kelly on board.

They did their uber silent coach hunt, reaching out to all the big names and were denied.

While they cannot control the media, they certainly do their best to control their image.

I don't think Kelly would be brought in at all if he was not 95% locked up - otherwise, ND would have terrible egg on their face and I don't think they would do that.

Even if they are a bunch of toolz.

Someone let the media know this was happening.
