I have seen many of your posts and have come to the conclusion that you are here just to try to rile people up. However, most of your posts - 99% - are so off base without merit that its not worth responding to. An occasional post by someone that just missed a fact or two is one thing. Having someone just spew illogical banter to bash a program they state in their moniker they support - "WE_ARE_UC" - makes one wonder why are you here?

It is obvious to most that this program is on the rise. Being ranked #5 is not a passing event. The school already stated that it is committed to upgrading the facility and Kelly more than likely is staying to build "his" legacy. Like it or not the football program is part of the BCS and does not have to apologize. One can argue that they have played better competition than some of the other teams in front of them.

We know where you stand now - UC program basher. So, if you do not have anything of "value" to add - and most of your posts add none - please just observe quietly or just go away. How you became a member is what I am trying to figure out or better yet why? I would urge all other people to ignore this person as he/she is only here to fill up the board with "garbage." If it is a way to get rid of them I vote for it. Not because another view is the issue - I think we all welcome it. Its because the opinion of this individual is juvenile at best and warrants no conversation.

i can't relax simply on ND not contacting BK. have they contacted anybody? it's only been a couple of days since stoops said he hasn't been contacted (even if he isn't interested). this won't stop until ND job is filled and BK says 'i'll see you at spring practice.'

I think Kelly is playing it that way to maximize his situation here. Who wouldn't? Meyer and Stoops can afford to state their interest. They already have the facilities and the compensation. Brian is trying to get there and he is using the leverage while he has it. Now make no mistake, if UC starts backing off of what they stated they would do, he will more than likely leave - maybe even somewhere else other than ND. It is in UC's best interest to pay Brian and his staff very well and upgrade the facilities - with a strong timeline to do so. I think that is why he is being coy. I really think he wants to stay. He just wants to make sure if he is putting his "blood" into something that everyone else is doing their part as well.

I just understand how he can't address the team? Like nobody on the team is wondering about the situation. I think that is just ridiculous and big a sign.

How do you know he hasn't addressed the team?

Yeah, I hear you on that. Maybe he has and told them to "keep a lid on it." Maybe not all the details but that he is not leaving but needs to negotiate in this manner. On the other hand, if he has not I hope it does not effect the players to the point "they lay an egg." If they are indeed working on a deal they need to get it done ASAP. I mean BEFORE Saturday. Regardless of the face those young men put on, they will wonder what is going to happen. Getting a deal done would be motivation IMO for them.

Meyer and Stoops both addressed the issue, head-on. Kelly hasn't. No sense getting annoyed with people asking questions if you're not giving anything by way of answers.
I completely agree with you #41. It's the same complaint I had about Huggins. On one hand, he'd commence with the coachbabble ("I'll listen", etc). On the other hand, he'd bemoan how bad all the speculation (that he did nothing to quell) was on recruiting.

I appreciate someone seeking to better his own situation, but as you said, no one has any right to complain about the circus when he's enabling it.

The elephant in the room is the BK made come comments at Central Michigan that were called “Racially Insensitive” http://www.cm-life.com/2005/09/23/ke...roleinsilence/ (“For example, a number of them were African Americans that had been in that culture of violence and they’re taught to look away.”)
ND is still taking heat over firing Willingham after 3 years. If they hire Kelly there is a really good chance that a lot of people will be all over them when the national media digs deep into BK’s past. I can see the Stephen A Smiths of the world (who can’t wait to rip ND) jumping all over this “they could not wait to fire the black coach and could not wait to hire the white raciest”. It seems like all of the BK to ND stuff is writers saying that he is the best fit, it seems like all of the inside ND info is about others and saying that BK is not a candidate. It makes sense

is it just me or is it obvious how much ESPN wants ND to hire Brian Kelly?

Let's just say, for argument's sake, that salary is a huge issue. Then, let's say, for argument's sake, the university recognizes that having a perrenial BCS contender can be a tremendous boon for the University's finances, as it will potentially generate enough revenuse through football to allocate to all sorts of programs on campus.

In that case, wouldn't it make sense to DOUBLE Kelly's salary? Not trying to be incensitive to the university's other departments and overall needs. I mean you can basically pay the entire history department on an extra 1.4 mil, no? But all I am saying is that if big time football is supposed to have such a profound impact on the campus's overall viability, profile, and finaicial health, it might be worth it to give Kelly TWICE what he makes now. I mean if you factor in the idea that he LIKES being in Cinci, it might be enough to offset the 3 mil plus that ND will supposedly offer.
In any event, the university has been very forthright with Kelly and have accommodated him and his desires, to the overall benefit of the school. He should take that into consideration.
In the meantime, the idea of WINNING a secnd straight Big East title and subsequent BCS berth is more a reality right now than the idea of LOSING a coach. Let's focus on the more likely reality. It will be better for all of us.
                            Go CATS!!!!

Mike, I doubt that this would be the reason. Kelly has been around quite a bit since that incident. Also, I don't think race will be a part of the discussion. Neither by ND or Stephen A. Smith. If Kelly were considered a racist - which he is not and I am considered an African American/Black, he would have already "signed" his coaching "death" as no players would play for him - African/White etc. He also would not have been hired here. Sometimes we make a statement out of context. If he would have stated what he did and left racial background out of it, no one would think anything of it because its probably true. We are a part of our environment regardless of ethnicity. A White person in a "bad" environment would more than likely be the same as anyone else in that environment.

I think that ND would be more concerned by rumors that he's pro-choice than any supposed racist comments that were made over a decade ago. The racist claims clearly hold no merit or else he would not be where he is today.

Does anyone know where Kelly's supposed pro-choice viewpoint was revealed? Or is that just a rumor someone started to make it sound less likely that he'll go to ND?
