I'm not seeing any other posts after yours claiming to have seen it. I think there would definitely be something out there. Especially footballcoachscoop.com, they would have a post up on this if he said what you claim. I'm not trying to be difficult, this is just a sensitive topic for me, for all of us.

Edsall would be an excellent choice. Not just because I want BK to stay. Edsall has done a tremendous job at UConn, building that program from scratch. It would be an excellent fit for both ND and Edsall, IMO.

I saw this during the 10am SportsCenter this morning. ESPN played the audio clip from WEBN. Coach Kelly stated he is staying.

Kelly is not leaving for one main reason his family likes it in Cincinnati and his assistant coaches just got most of their families finally settled into Cincinnati. I don't think that the coaches want to be stuck paying 2 to 3 mortgages on their houses. Some of the coaches have more than 2 houses in the Cincinnati area.

I don't know if this has been guranteed by Kelly or not but I didn't take that much from the WEBN clip. The question was asked in such a way that a yes or no answer must have been given. Even the guys that got the answer weren't sure if they should believe it or not because they said they would rough him up if not.

Why would he answer that he's going somewhere if he doesn't know yet? He wouldn't...he would say I'm staying. I don't think that answer is the end all definitive answer we have been looking for. When the ND job is filled I will be sure.

Rumors in KC is that Edsall might come to Kansas to follow Lew Perkins. Though, I doubt he'd turn down ND for KU, though Mangino is very well paid - its not ND money or fame or pressure for that matter.

Down here in TN I heard the Edsall - ND rumor on the local sports radio show as well, also noticed ESPN Insider headline had a tease about Skip Holtz to UVA and Fulmer to Louisville. I thought Golden (Temple) was the front runner for the Virginia gig. Gotta love all this unsubstantiated talk.

Funny, if Tim Tebow sneezed it would be on espn.com within the hour and would be on Sportscenter, College Football Live, Pardon the Interruption, Mike and Mike, etc. for days. Kelly did certainly say that, whether it holds true or not I'm not sure, but you would think it would deserve at least a blurb on the website. They certainly jumped all over his statement of not addressing anything until after Saturday. I really think the only news they want is BK to ND if it involves UC. God forbid they talk about the game on Sat. and it's implications. I haven't heard it mentioned ONE time. ESPN has turned into the National Enquirer of sports, if it wasn't for actual games I wouldn't give them the time of day.

It has become so blantantly obvious that ESPN wants ND to hire Brian Kelly. Last night there was an interview one of the analysts did with the ND AD and his first question was "have you contacted Brian Kelly". BK was the only name that was mentioned in the interview. He11 they've ran an article every day this week about how Kelly is a perfect fit.

I have taken a "cross that bridge when we come to it" view to this point. My life is much more than who is coaching the Bearcats but something has caught my attention.

Why, if true, would Notre Dame be down their list far enough to be looking at Edsall without so much as talking to Brian Kelly. It would mean that either that defensive-minded thing is being taken way overboard or they're just idiots up there.

I think it makes more sense to believe that they contacted Kelly's agent and he told them to remove him from consideration. I'm not saying that's the case but to think they would talk with Edsall before Brian Kelly is hard to believe.

Perhaps the rumor about a new contract is true. Perhaps the school has a new contract for him and this whole 7-10 days comment and wait until after Saturday comment have to do with announcing a new deal that will ultimately end the Notre Dame rumors. Kelly isn't going to say anything now because the publicity is good for the school and they might as well milk it as long as they can.

                          Just a thought.

Why would he annouce it on the dawn patrol, but not during his press conference?

I think it's just coach speak.

Guys there is really something to the whole rumor of Brian Kelly not passing the Notre Dame vetting process. They are not interested in Coach Kelly anymore. Now, that said, if they are turned down by everyone on their list, they may very well come back to BK and I personally think he would go in a heartbeat.

I just wish BK and MT would come out and say a long-term deal has been finalized and BK will be the UC coach for many years to come.

I have a fealing that nothing will happen (good or bad) until after the Pitt game.
