is Kelly going to New York just to interview or will he be there for the Coach of the Year awards Banquet and interview in the process?

Mardy Gilyard, Tony Pike and the rest of the seniors had to see this crap on ESPN's bottom line today. Not even 24 hours removed from being announced in the Sugar Bowl, their coach is already bolting on another job interview and telling a national radio audiance he can't guarantee he'll be there on the sidelines to help the kids -- the kids who busted their @sses all year, played hurt, and left it all on the line for him -- win the biggest game of their lives. Less than a week after he told them all he'd be there for them and that he wasn't going anywhere. I know it's a business, but it's his choice to conduct it in this manner. His choice alone.

Yes you are, coach. Yes you are.
Holy Cow why dont you see how this plays out before you crucify the man. geez

He has not done anything yet and none of us could possibly understand the intricacies involved. Let's not jump to this type of statment yet.

Apparently Jimmy Clausen and Tate (top receiver) are both leaving ND to enter the draft. Surely this has to help our cause doesn't it?

I figured last Thursday that, if they didn't hire anyone over the weekend, it would be clear that BK was the guy they were waiting for. All the Edsall, Holtz junk was a smoke screen to stall for the end of the season.

It must be the water around here. Thad Matta, Sean Miller, Mark Dantonio all lied there tails off and then bolted.

Losing Kelly is bad enough but losing recruits that we lose to others plus the ones Kelly will poach hurts more.

You have no clue of what's actually going on, nor are you in his shoes. You've made your point. Would you please not call our coach a "scumbag" on public forum that anyone can view? I don't want myself, the fanbase, and this site to look stupid by association. Geez...

folks, don't jump to any conclusions on this. the reality is that kelly is very savy and knows he's looking at more from uc as well as other offers(nd et. al). he's not going to turn down listening to much more lucrative offers, and unfortunately the market for coaches does not allow for restrictions on their movement. whether he stays or goes he will be rewarded for the back to back beast titles and bcs bowls. this program is in a very good position right now compared to where it has been historically, and if he/they feel the pastures are greener elsewhere then we will get a top notch replacement. this is the business we are in, and we need to support our program and its' players regardless. my recollection was there was a lot of this "doom and gloom" when dantonio left as well, and we all see what happened.

i don't disagree, but did anyone else notice the slight comment by lou holtz to BK last night during their interview? BK commented about the media promoting rumors and lou made a sarcastic comment along the lines of 'that doesn't happen - especially to the head coach of notre dame.'

at first i took it as a lou saying 'stay' to BK b/c that's what i'm hoping for and i'm looking for any hint to that; but i wonder if lou hasn't said similar things to skip (or he noticed them firsthand) and doesn't really want to walk into that hornets nest.

He has to interview for the job. Period. A lot of people would consider it the opportunity of a life time. I, for one, believe the irrelevance of ND football will continue whether Kelly takes the job or not, but that is just me. They have sunk to such depths that I don't think anyone is capable of pulling out of that nose dive. Their national draw is irrefutable, but the program is a mess. College football has changed since the 80's, and they don't hold the power they use to. He'll make a decision and Cincinnati will move on. It's a business, plain and simple. They have deeper pockets and a history second to none. Hopefully he chooses what he has over an unknown, but that is his choice. I am grateful for his contribution and will continue to support the team and new coach if he leaves for ND. Food for thought: Since Minter, every coach hired has left the program in better shape than he found it. If Kelly leaves, let's hope the next guy continues the trend.

Nobody really has a clue as to what his intentions are at this point.

Either he fully intends to go to Notre Dame if offered, or he's using them for all they're worth to get what he wants here.

If he does intend to stay, it doesn't help him to not interview with Notre Dame. If he makes it apparent that he's staying, it doesn't put the University and donors in panic mode to do what they need to do to keep him around.

Bowden, Paterno, Bryant, Hayes. What do they have in common? None of them had 3 jobs in 4 years.
