I agree. I read a lot of material during the offseason about CBJ trying to create some sort of a 'family atmosphere' on the team and repeating the 'represent the C' mantra. That's all fine and dandy but when your team can't block, can't catch, can't receive a snap, and can't defend the pass then it becomes painfully apparent that not enough time was spent on the fundamentals. That is some of the most revealing info I've heard all season. It's one thing to be a players coach but I think that needs to change quick the way the team is performing.Originally posted by True BearcatYes I go and watch quite frequently. This year it is more of a have fun atmosphere. Last year was a business atmosphere. Listen to the coaches, execute, and finish practice. Seems this staff is opposite of what our guys are used to. CBJ is approachable by anyone on the team. BK was not.
At this point UC is lucky to beat a Kragthorpe led Louisville team and finish 7th in the Big East. This is flat ugly."In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel." - former colleague to Jim Tressel as quoted in Sports Illustrated.Comment

But they practiced how to change QBs if Collaros gets injured!I agree. In that case, you have to look at the original premise. UC was predicted to have one of the best offenses in college football. Why? Because players who were successful under the previous coach were returning. But were they really that good? Every QB under BK was successful; it's entirely possible that Zach was just a system QB, and this new system isn't as suited for him.
Also, the team lost their starting QB, their best offensive player (Gilyard), and their two best O-linemen...not to mention one of the best offensive coaches in the country. So maybe the assumption that the returning talent would pick up where they left off, with better players and a better coach, was faulty.
In other words, they aren't who we thought they were. The original assumption was incorrect.Comment

I have to attribute it to coaching. Collaros showed what he could do last year and at time looked better than Pike. Heck, people were debating whether they should bench Collaros when Pike was healthy after what Zach did in four games. Now he is having trouble taking snaps! What's up with that? I know they lost Gilyard but c'mon, I haven't heard Binns name called more than a half-dozen times and where the heck is Guidugli for his senior Macke award campaign (I am aware he was injured in the first half).
The UC defense is in a zone and getting picked apart. The announcers made a good point that NC State's receivers are big, which they are, and perhaps that's why UC is relying on the zone. However, they're getting picked apart and the zone is not working. Time to switch to man to see if they have any success.Originally posted by bearcat29WOW, NC State is WIDE open.
Once again, have to pin this on the coaching staff's inabilty to adjust mid-game."In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach.
