The folks I talk to that are affiliated with osu are quite smitten with Dr. Ono. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they tried to pry him away from UC. After all, they must stomp out any and all competition in the state.

True. I'm all for competition among the universities throughout the state (in theory, the competition would make them all better), but using $$ and sheer size to win that competition is (in my opinion) the worst way to win as it doesn't accomplish anything except to create a monopoly.

Did it ever come out WHY Williams left? Was it really conference realignment?

Williams was essentially forced out because he butted heads with the BoT on the idea of moving the Law School off campus to the Banks.

As of tonight, it sounds like we get to keep President Ono (at least from OSU) - they reportedly have hired a Chancellor from UC Irvine...
