  • Legalized Sports Betting

For the folks on here that like to bet, The US Supreme Court struck down the federal anti-betting statue this morning. Legalized sports betting COULD BE coming to every state that doesn't already have it.

Sports betting was legalized in Ohio in January 1.

Dayton recently blew a big lead at home to VCU and lost by 1 point. Anthony Grant spoke out against people harassing/threatening his players as a result of that loss: https://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...s/69817189007/

I saw that earlier and was going to post it. I believe that we will have another Tulane coming somewhere soon. Maybe a school where players are not getting NIL money and have found a way to pocket some cash.

Extra Points did a deep dive on this and there's a lot more of this out there than just the Dayton situation. This one is defeintely paywalled. ($)

And its only gonna get worse. Scandals are around the corner and if a star player has a terrible game and teams don't cover, suspicions will abound. I am also anticipating the inevitable NIL issues when players claim they didn't get what they were promised. The landscape of our beloved college sports is changing and not for the better. FYI the NIL buying of players is already starting to filter down to the high school kids - Yikes!

            That's already happened with NIL.

Some of these NIL collectives are promising huge dollar amounts to players and don't even have the bank account to support it. Like above.

I also want to point out that there is a fake UC fan collective circulating on Instagram. John Cunningham is aware of it and I'm sure some cease and desists are headed their way. Currently the only affiliated NIL group for fans and donors is Cincy Reigns which is run by attorney Brian Fox. They are sanctioned by the athletic department. Their 501c3 certification was in process last I checked with Brian.
