NIL and Transfer Vote delayed

The vote NCAA D-1Council vote on name, image and likeness and the vote on the one time transfer rule have been delayed by the NCAA at the direction of Mark Emmert.

This probably has something to do with a warning that came from the Department of Justice re: NIL on Friday afternoon.

Mark Emmert is urging the NCAA to pass the NIL stuff but it's apparently still punting the issue until the Alston case gets resolved (that's a in a different thread). Meanwhile you have states like Georgia that have passed legislation for NIL already. In the GA law, schools can grab 75% off your NIL earnings and redistribute it to other athletes at the school.

The NCAA's NIL vote will take place at the annual meeting on June 22 -23

NIL news if you haven't seen it already. The Ohio Senate now has an NIL bill on the table as of today. John Cunningham has released a statement on it this afternoon. For those who missed Coffee with Cunningham a while back, the potential for this was discussed and the department is prepared to deal with this already.

Temporary guidance from the NCAA is coming for NIL before July 1. This is being done to get a uniform set of rules across all 50 states until they can iron out something permanent. If they don't get someone thing done here, some states will have laws on the books that differ from state to state starting on that date.
