After 54 holes, the Bearcats sit at #11 in the B12 championship, with 18 holes remaining tomorrow. The Longhorns have a nearly insurmountable lead over the Sooners, at (-13) to (-2).

On the absolutely tremendous side, Bearcat Ty Gingerich leads the individual pack at (-8), just ahead of Cowboy Preston Smith (-6). Right behind them are two players at (-5): Tommy Morrison (TX) and Gustav Frimodt (TCU).

Gingerich finished at (-9) and in a 3-way tie for the individual championship. He qualified for the NCAA regionals. The team had a good day overall, shaving 5 strokes off their 3-round total, and ended up #9. TX ran away with the team title.

Cincinnati fifth-year senior men's golfer Ty Gingerich has earned a bid to the NCAA's Purdue Regional, May 13-15. The action will take place at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The top five teams in each of the six regionals, as well as the top individual not on any of those squads, will advance to the national championship in Carlsbad, Calif. (May 24-29).

This trip will be a homecoming of sorts for the Russiaville, Ind., native, whose father, Rex, pitched at Purdue, while his brother, Weston, is a current member of the baseball team. Gingerich, who completed his finance degree last week, won the Big 12 individual championship with a 9-under 279 at Whispering Pines in Texas, which included three-straight birdies on the back-nine. It was his first collegiate win after three second-place finishes. His 72.42 career stroke average is currently second in school history to former teammate Sam Jean.

Congrats to junior Ryan Ford of @GoBearcatsMGOLF, who had a phenomenal performance to start Big 12 Match Play! On Monday morning, he defeated Arizona State's Josele Ballester, who is the reigning U.S. Amateur champion and ranked in the Top-10 in the world.
