I think that CJ is more of a true basketball player versus the athletes that seem to dominate the game today. I am really happy for this young man.

Pretty impressive for a guy who rarely saw the court under Wes. Makes one wonder. Is anyone surprised that Wes can’t gauge talent and skill?Originally posted by sedz View PostCJ Anthony had 20 points on 19 shots with 3 assists, no turnovers, and 4 steals at St Johns. Got to the rim 7 times. Best player on the court with a 16.5 BPM. Very impressive.

I noticed former Bearcat Josh Reed playing for Penn State last night. Out of curiosity, I looked up how transfer Bearcats are doing this season (per game average)
Arrinten Page, Northwestern:
15.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.1 blocks, 1.2 steals
CJ Anthony, Iona:
15.8 points, 6.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds
Dan Skillings, Baylor:
11.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists
Dillon Mitchell, St John's:
10.5 points. 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 steals
Josh Reed, Penn State:
10.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.3 steals
Tyler Betsey, Syracuse:
8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds.
Rayvon Griffith, Kent State:
6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds

Checking in on some transfers with their current BPM and (their last season at UC).
Dillon Mitchell 14.0 (6.8)
Dan Skillings 0.5 (5.8)
Josh Reed 3.7 (3.1)
Arrinten Page 11.1 (1.2)
Tyler Betsey 6.1 (-1.2)
Connor Hickman -0.5 (-2.5)
CJ Anthony 3.7 (-2.7)
Rayvon Griffith -0.6 (-3.5)
Everyone has improved dramatically except Skillings who is off to a slow start, and Reed who has held steady.
I'm really happy for CJ Anthony and Page especially. Both have become high usage, efficient primary options. CJ has a 34% assist rate and a 75% free throw rate! He's already attempted 61 free throws - no one on our squad has attempted even 40. Page has cut down on fouls and turnovers while becoming a great passer (2.6 apg) and finisher (86% at the rim).

At the rate that he is going, it makes me wonder if Iona would beat UC this season.Originally posted by Carthage World View PostCJ Anthony scored 26 points in Iona's 89-66 win over Delaware.

I agree 100% but it is now out there. Other coaches will use this against UC.Originally posted by longtimefan View PostI can’t think of any reason why UC would intentionally force Hickman to play hurt. He’s not Oscar Robertson, he was actually a minor part of the squad. I also doubt our medical staff would misdiagnose him. This is just lawyers with dollar signs in their eyes, and a kid who just wants to play.

I expect attorneys to press the issue for their clients. He has one of the most powerful firms in college athletics and you know they want to make even a bigger name for themselves. So far, it is misdiagnosis, but what does that say for the UC medical staff. I agree that Connor is just wanting to play, but some bad press has gone down on UC.Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View PostJust because a plaintiff's attorney says something is true, doesn't mean there was ill intent by any staff member. UC med staff are top-notch. If they determined that surgery wasn't required, that will come out later. I imagine that, if the NCAA clears Hickman, that will be the end of it.

I found this by CWM as I figured they would argue
“I don’t know if we diagnosed it correctly.”

some damage repair by Cunningham but-----
Cincinnati acknowledged it did not present surgery as an option for Hickman. The program’s athletic director wrote a letter supporting the player’s quest for a fifth year, according to a story from Scott Hamilton of the Charleston Post and Courier.Last edited by leo from jersey; 11-20-2025, 05:22 PM.

it would have to be proven -- medical mal practice is the real issue. What does that say of the University -- the school would be sued and go on major suspension/probation -- quite a can of worms here - much deeper than CWM -- John Cunningham and the President -- I am sure UC is fighting it now. -- If proven, who will be the scapegoats, but it has to be proven. The medical staff just might have been guilty of a faulty diagnosis. This is a very serious accusation --Originally posted by bearcatbret View Post
I wonder if this could be considered "for cause" for termination?
