I can’t think of any reason why UC would intentionally force Hickman to play hurt. He’s not Oscar Robertson, he was actually a minor part of the squad. I also doubt our medical staff would misdiagnose him. This is just lawyers with dollar signs in their eyes, and a kid who just wants to play.

I agree 100% but it is now out there. Other coaches will use this against UC.

Just because a plaintiff's attorney says something is true, doesn't mean there was ill intent by any staff member. UC med staff are top-notch. If they determined that surgery wasn't required, that will come out later. I imagine that, if the NCAA clears Hickman, that will be the end of it.

I expect attorneys to press the issue for their clients. He has one of the most powerful firms in college athletics and you know they want to make even a bigger name for themselves. So far, it is misdiagnosis, but what does that say for the UC medical staff. I agree that Connor is just wanting to play, but some bad press has gone down on UC.

I wonder if this could be considered "for cause" for termination?

it would have to be proven -- medical mal practice is the real issue. What does that say of the University -- the school would be sued and go on major suspension/probation -- quite a can of worms here - much deeper than CWM -- John Cunningham and the President -- I am sure UC is fighting it now. -- If proven, who will be the scapegoats, but it has to be proven. The medical staff just might have been guilty of a faulty diagnosis. This is a very serious accusation --

Jay Bilas retweeted this morning an apparent sports law guru who shared some screenshots from a filing from Hickman's case petitioning for eligibility. These are just allegations, but it mentions Hickman suffered a serious stress fracture last year and relied on UC's medical guidance but should have gotten immediate surgery.

"Had Hickman been told the truth he would have immediately stopped participating, undergone surgery, and preserved that season of collegiate eligibility. Instead, he was kept in the dark by his coaches, athletic trainers and doctors at the University of Cincinnati and was reassured that conservative treatment was adequate."

Not bad for the UC walk-on. Dan said that CJ was very loyal to UC and was proud of being a Bearcat but forgo his last year so that he could play meaningful minutes elsewhere. I hope that I got that right from Dan's comments tonight.

That is correct. Wes mentioned last season he was specifically redshirting so he could preserve a year of eligibility to play elsewhere for 25-26.
