I talked to a walk-on I knew (when Currey was coaching) and asked what he was like. He thought for a moment and said, "It's like playing for your grandfather.'

Two memories of Coach Currey - 1) before he coached UC, he brought Long Beach State into Riverfront Stadium for a game against the Cats. Their team walked in from the endzone tunnel (in a line) to the endzone line, turned left and walked along the line, turned right at the corner and marched along the sideline until they reached their bench. It was the weirdest entrance to a game that I've ever seen. Needless to say, I was very surprised when this Californian became UC's next FBHC.

    2) The Friday before UC's game against Alabama, he was interviewed on the radio and said, "We've got the best chance of any team in the country at beating Alabama; (wait for it......) we're the only team playing them this week!"

    RIP Mr. Currey.
