First Post and Previous Email Lists?

The 'Date Yourself' thread got me to thinking about old basketball email lists and frequent posters back then. I distinctly remember that my first post was after the UC at Wyoming game in 1994. Not sure what the list was called then.

lol the world wide web -- the first engines were the Archie's, Jugheads and Veronica lol -- all because of the Department of Defense wanted to talk in secret and not invented by Al Gore. Nice invention which has made a few profits since a certain president took off the USA's sole ownership and rights. Serves them right as White house. com was a porn site. All the kiddies got a shock. Hence they had to open up .gov. It was 50 or so years ago and I remember the Universities complaining about the information hegemony which the US Government had. Now big techies have that. What a country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! Way before 1994.Thank you Mr. Carter.

          AltaVista on Netscape.

My first post to the email list was in 1999- ish? I have two days in my life where my email tried to kill me. One of them was from the old email list on the day that Huggins got fired by Zimpher. That generated something like 1200 emails in a 24hr period.

I have a similar story, and mine started via email as well. Back then, I had downloaded a sound-byte of Homer Simpson’s “D’oh!” to play when I received an email. The day Huggins got fired, my email was bombarded with incoming messages. There must have been hundreds of “D’ohs!” in rapid succession. I’m surprised my computer did not crash. LOL!!

Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Bonus points if you can hear the modem handshake when you dialed in.
