Remember that Steve Logan was the first pick of the second round and did not have much of a pro career. He was consensus first team and a scorer.

Most of that i thought was do to Steve hurting his foot. Rushed the process and never healed correctlyOriginally posted by bearcatbret View PostRemember that Steve Logan was the first pick of the second round and did not have much of a pro career. He was consensus first team and a scorer.

Baba is 4th best available prospect, per ESPN https://www.espn.com/nba/draft/bestavailable
He is likely to go early 2nd round tonight.
Since James White's selection in 2006, the only former Bearcats to be drafted in the last 20 years are: Lance Stephenson (2010), Jacob Evans (2018) and Tari Eason* (2022). Dillon Mitchell may also get picked tonight.Last edited by GoBearcats31; 06-24-2026, 10:44 AM.

Logan was also less than 6' tall and relatively slow to play in the NBA. Great college players don't always translate to NBA players. I may have shared this story before but my friend's father played at WVU in the mid-1960s. There was a first team All-American on WVU. His tryout for one team was to play a game of one-on-one against a retired NBA player. He never scored in that game. I also recall members of this forum asserting that Kenyon was an NBA bust - the former college POY - because he could not produce at the same level he produced in college. That demonstrates the difference between college and NBA. And for the record, I don't believe Kenyon was an NBA bust - he had a solid career in the NBA.Originally posted by BearKatz View Post

Kenyon had an excellent career in the NBA. Hard to imagine anyone being labeld a Bust when you play 15 seasons in the NBA.Originally posted by London 'Cat View Post

Funny time. Baba played at three schools, the last of which was UC. His coach at UC is no longer the coach. So there aren't any quotes about how his time at UC shaped him, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they get some comment from Calhoun at some point for marketing.

read my post about what Wes Miller said. Baba can rebound and play defense, but limited offense as WM was silent on his offense. He is a project. I hope he pans out but 3 schools and the shot doctor could not help his offense. Yes, he canned shots when wide open, but in the NBA the defenses are quite tight. W. Miller didn't speak about shooting but was quiet on his entire offense as we know shooting is just one aspect of offense. WM knows that too, but he just can't coach the complete offensive player. We saw that for what seemed an eternity. Shooters only apply at the WM team. They will leave as shooters only. That doesn't translate well at the NBA level. Shooters are plentiful as that is what is being encouraged from grade school on up today.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View Posthttps://gobearcats.com/news/2026/06/...-the-nba-draft

Nearly every draft pick came from college -- obviously a counter point to that is the rise in international players enrolling in US colleges to play basketball, and certainly plenty fit the mold here (including Baba). But the top of the draft was very much all-American. For what it is worth.
