The Schottenstein family have set up a 501c 3 corporation for NIL at Ohio State. There are other deep pockets in Columbus as well.

There are businesses in Memphis that are offering freshman more $ than what they would make overseas or in the G-league just to play one year.

It will either be luck that an under-rated player shines at the smaller school, or gains weight/strength to go with a natural skill/talent to show significant improvement. The smaller schools will not be able to compete for top level talent against schools offering millions in NIL.

A lot of low- and mid-major kids starting to hit the portal. Only a matter of time before bigger school players do. Not saying anyone from UC is imminent, but obviously anyone not partaking in postseason play could start seeing attrition (not to say everyone in the portal leaves for sure).

Last year nearly the whole team wanted out.

is there a time frame when a player has to let his intentions be known?

Maybe someone with more intellect than I can answer this question now that we are plodding into the age of the NIL, do students still have to to to class, maintain their grades, etc. Or now that they are being paid, so to speak, do they still gets and education or maybe its a choosing between two options. I mean if some schools are offering contracts to recruits that exceed or border those that are being gotten in G league, are they getting an education tuition paid also?

Yes, they are on scholarship and required to remain academically eligible.

No. Anytime a player wants to test the waters, he can go to the compliance office and enter the portal. Some coaches are calling for transfer windows, but nothing has come of that yet.

With respect to UC, Chad Brendel said he doesn't expect any such announcements for about ten days. The players are on spring break and the staff has not yet spoken to them about where they stand. That would not preclude a player from going to compliance in the interim, but it's probably unlikely.

                        Thank You.
So, once a player enters the portal can the coach look for his replacement or does the coach have to wait to see if the player actually finds another school? (which may or may not happen)

When a player goes into the portal they are basically a free agent and any school can talk to them at that point including the school they just left. They can return to their original school if they want to but the school has no obligation to hold a scholarship spot for them.

First team All-Ivy league guard Jaelin Llewellyn just put his name into the transfer portal. This past season Llewellyn averaged 15.8 ppg, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists shooting 45% from the field, and 40% from 3. Former top 100 recruit in the class of 2018.

Jaelin Llewellyn has heard from: Alabama, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Minnesota, DePaul, Northwestern, Creighton, WKU, Clemson, Cal, WVU, Butler, OSU, UNLV, Georgetown, George Mason, SMU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Seton Hall, PC, Texas A&M, and Miami

I believe Jaelin was a former Cronin recruit at UC

Has at least one year of eligibility

                            6'2 guard from Canada

Given that at this time there are no OPEN spots... I can't see CWM encouraging someone to part just to get another guard. Big time forward/center.. maybe but not a guard.

You are correct. I don't think we stayed in the mix long once he started getting Ivy league offers though. He was headed to Princeton as first choice.
