    Transfer Portal 2026

The portal officially opens on April 7. We should have a good idea who’s transferring out (or possibly in) long before that. It’s a transition year for UC.

Yes this is jumping the gun as we have no clue on who our new coach will be. If it is Calhoun, he does have a winner. Mason Falslev. He is currently a junior and is the Mountain West player of the year as 6-4 200 pound guard. While he is from Utah, he had previously put his name in the portal, but withdrew. He is also first team mountain west defensive team.

Adlan Elamin is a 6-8 freshmen top 200 power forward. He is from Virginia so Calhoun had to have recruited him.

All speculation, but it is forum fodder.

Let's hope GM Evans can keep some of these players.

Even if the portal does not open until April 7, we will surely get tweets about players intending to enter the portal

Current Players on the roster I would like Evans / New Coach to retain:

          Thiam
          James
          Tillery
          Harris
          McKinley

Not sure about Haynes since we never really seen him play.

I wonder if Thiam will enter the NBA draft. He might enter the draft but withdraw before it.

I would hope our guys would hold off entering the portal until they meet the new coach. I feel like a major coaching upgrade is coming. Thiam isn't ready for the NBA. Hoping he is being told such.

I can see him entering the draft just to see if he's got a legit shot as a first round pick. With his size, and he can shoot, most teams will probably take a chance.

I believe the players really liked Wes, and with good reason. He had strong relationships with his players. That may be hard to overcome for some, if not all, of the roster. It would make sense to wait until a new coach is appointed but young men don’t always think things through. We’re in a wait and see posture until April 1.

I do agree with you. The grass isn't always greener. I believe some of our former guys have learned that lesson.

I wonder if we will retain Thiam's manager/handler as big man coach?

i think haynes could help - he's a big body clogging the lane on defense, and maybe an old school 4/5 that you could throw the ball to, in the paint

some might go in just so they can re-negotiate or have new negotiations with other teams. They all have agents.

Plus Evans saw these guys and may have already scouted better fits. He has been working on this year's portal for a while is my take. The new coach will take many of the Evan's guys the first year perhaps and then more working together to get guys who play his way.

I do believe they came to UC as a package deal. But, if Thiam goes pro, what happens to N'Dyiae?

I’d like to keep the entire roster, which might get us off to a better non-conference start next year. 9-9 in the Big 12 should have gotten us in the tournament, it was tge early season losses that killed us. Realistically, I’d like to keep Tillery, Thiam, Abaev, McKinley, Harris, James, but those are the guys everybody else will be after.
