That’s likely true, especially because the reported buyout was a lump sum of less than the amount due over time. I agree with bearcatbret that he always represented UC with class and grace.Originally posted by longtimefan View Post
My guess is Wes has another job offer so he wanted out now.

I am reminded of yesterday's TCU-tOsu -- Diebler, although losing, made the half time adjustments against Dixon and took away a 15 point lead. Dixon took away tOSU's all time leading scorer and Diebler adjusted. WM failed when our Bigs were taken away. Diebler does not have the experience WM has but he has a better BB IQ. Now on to Coach Calhoun.Originally posted by London 'Cat View Post
Thankfully, the AD knew that it was not likely to improve much beyond that. The program should be able to achieve more than Wes was able to.

CINCINNATI — Former Bearcats basketball head coach Wes Miller has landed a new gig in Cincinnati's old conference. Sidelines Charlotte reports he is taking over the Charlotte 49ers head coaching role in the American Athletic Conference.

Jizzle? I doubt he stays here (play-style doesn't really fit Calhoun's style), he seems to have a close relationship with Wes and I doubt money is a huge issue for him.Originally posted by longtimefan View PostSo, will any UC players follow Wes to Charlotte? Jordi, Halvine?
Kriisa (if he gets a 7th year) and Harris? again probably not staying here and may be ready to move down a level of play in order to start.
I'd bet Thiam, Tillery and Haynes don't follow him, not saying they'll stay here (though I'd like them too), but I don't think they'd be willing to take less money and move down to playing in the AAC.
I'd like to keep both Jordi and Halvine, though I wouldn't be shocked if they follow Wes. Jordi looks like he might become something with an offensive minded coach and a year to develop physically. I could see him being a quality role player next year and developing into a starting role as a junior and senior.
Halvine has shown he's physically able to compete at the big 12 level. Needs work on offense, so I wouldn't be particularly upset if he transfers. But it never hurts to have a capable big man to bring in off the bench.

More than a day later I’ve seen no other sources confirming this. Even though official announcements lag, there are usually multiple sources for coaching hires, but none this time?Originally posted by bearcatbret View Post

All I can find are statements from secondary/tertiary sources. The school has said nothing. The Charlotte Observer has not broken a story. The big name college basketball investigative reporters? Crickets. It probably will happen, but there's certainly no confirmation.Originally posted by longtimefan View Post

Yeah, was never an issue with him. You have to be a very good HC to succeed here, to be a tourney team in the B12 regularly, with less NIL $ than the top brass. The hope would be that if it's the right guy, being a B12 program now, he'll stick around longer if the money is close enough.Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostGive Miller some due. He left gracefully. Personally, I believe that he is a good man.
