  • A good win against a scrappy & resilient team, although if we play any B12 team on the road like this we will lose every game.

I synced with radio. I kept hearing Dan and Terry describing plays I never saw. Get it was students, play on the road at a small school and the quality just isn’t the same.

Yeah. You are correct. Last year, UC would have lost a tough game like this.

In tonight's game, it appears that Miller was substituting for offense. However, late in the second half when Howard continued to score, UC needed stops. I was puzzled why Miller did not play Oguama much in the second half against Howard's smaller quicker lineups. Miller needs to understand that Oguama is the best defensive big man that UC has. Aziz showed tonight that he does NOT match up well when he has to play on the perimeter. Lakhin struggles too when he has to guard on the perimeter. Oguama can play on the perimeter or in the paint. UC most definitely needed Oguama tonight in the second half, but Miller would not play him. Howard's smaller quick players were bad matchups for UC tonight. Nevertheless, the UC players were able to grab a tough win on the road. In the end, regardless of how ugly this game was, a win is better than a loss.

Ultimately, I'm glad they took this game. Howard is an NCAA tourney team and likely will be again. Much better to be sharpened by steel than softened by a cupcake.
My comment was directed at the fact that we still have so many ESPN+ games. Since this was a MEAC school I get it but most of our games this year are on ESPN+ including conference games. The crosstown shootout will be just one of a handful games that we have on an actual regular channel.

As a student at NKU when they entered D1, I worked basketball games and watched the production happen. At D1 schools with smaller budgets, the broadcasts are often done by students majoring in related fields and with broadcasters who are local to the area and are available for very little money.

Is it high quality? No. Is it as good as UC, a school with a significantly larger budget? Definitely not. But give these people credit for doing their best with what they got. They're working hard and their jobs just like we do.

Also, just as an FYI: ESPN+ is not ESPN. When you see a long list of smaller schools broadcasting games on ESPN+ or ESPN3, those are not "ESPN productions." ESPN is simply providing the platform of ESPN+/ESPN3 to air the productions of smaller schools that otherwise would have no audience.
Calling us the Cincinnati Bears several times and talking about John Newman of the Bisons is just sloppy or ill prepared. Or maybe he was nervous?

Howard would need to finish top 135 in NET for this to be a Q2 win. Considering Howard finished #214 last season, best case scenario is that this will be a Q3 win.

the production on espn plus is in the hands of the home team. Howard wasn't prepared with the graphics, replay, camera work or announcers..

                    • Listen to the post game on the radio. Terry questioned Thomas ability to handle the ball. 3TOs but it should have been 5 since the refs didn't call 2. I saw it against GT when he had 2 in the first 2 minutes. Need a floor general. I saw Frederick positioning players when shooting free throws. CWM threw the team under the bus as they say. he was displeased and said maybe they will listen now. Perhaps he is right and they got the big head after the GT blowout. He didn't play Jizzle due to lack of experience and the same with Bandago.. He alluded to a quicker perimeter team they had to defend against. I say we got this one out of the system. Learn that you have to do your best every night. It was interesting that CWM was late for the post game due to a long talk with Jizzle's father. Overall. I see why Simas L. is playing due to his overall game.At the end of regulation, I missed Skillings in there as Howard had nobody to guard him. I am happy with the win and now lets go on and improve. Go Cats.

That is the story of the game. Hit even 30% from 3 point land and it is a blowout.

mispronounced lahkins's name all night. several other mis statements - some could've been nerves, etc. some seem to just be sloppy, and unprepared. color man was asking out loud if edgerrin james and jizzle were related. horrible camera work. i get its a small college production, but, geez, it was really bad.

Lake in - They could have asked a manager or someone from UC how to pronounce the names. I know UC furnishes media guides so they should have known who Jizzle's Dad is. That is just good work and preparation. No experience or a production budget is needed. A couple of years ago the games were almost, but not quite as wretched, but they worked hard to improve.

                              • I warned you all that the production quality might be interesting. After Tulane last year, you could see it coming. We weren't even sure it was going to be on TV a few days ago. At least it was actually broadcasted.

I honestly didn't catch much of the game last night due to prior obligations but what I did hear from the TV announcers was HS Community access cable level quality. I'm not sure those guys were pros and if they were I suspect it was a last minute call from someone that got them there. That might explain the lack of prep work.

Look at the bright side. It's unlikely that we will play there ever again and you only had to deal with it once. Imagine being a Howard fan and possbily dealing with that all season.
