Ultimately, I'm glad they took this game. Howard is an NCAA tourney team and likely will be again. Much better to be sharpened by steel than softened by a cupcake.

My comment was directed at the fact that we still have so many ESPN+ games. Since this was a MEAC school I get it but most of our games this year are on ESPN+ including conference games. The crosstown shootout will be just one of a handful games that we have on an actual regular channel.

In tonight's game, it appears that Miller was substituting for offense. However, late in the second half when Howard continued to score, UC needed stops. I was puzzled why Miller did not play Oguama much in the second half against Howard's smaller quicker lineups. Miller needs to understand that Oguama is the best defensive big man that UC has. Aziz showed tonight that he does NOT match up well when he has to play on the perimeter. Lakhin struggles too when he has to guard on the perimeter. Oguama can play on the perimeter or in the paint. UC most definitely needed Oguama tonight in the second half, but Miller would not play him. Howard's smaller quick players were bad matchups for UC tonight. Nevertheless, the UC players were able to grab a tough win on the road. In the end, regardless of how ugly this game was, a win is better than a loss.

I enjoyed the commentators - exuberant & not just dishing out cliches. I did find the camera watching an empty half court while Howard nailed a buzzer beater 3 to send it to OT pretty comical.

I synced with radio. I kept hearing Dan and Terry describing plays I never saw. Get it was students, play on the road at a small school and the quality just isn’t the same.

As a student at NKU when they entered D1, I worked basketball games and watched the production happen. At D1 schools with smaller budgets, the broadcasts are often done by students majoring in related fields and with broadcasters who are local to the area and are available for very little money.

Is it high quality? No. Is it as good as UC, a school with a significantly larger budget? Definitely not. But give these people credit for doing their best with what they got. They're working hard and their jobs just like we do.

Also, just as an FYI: ESPN+ is not ESPN. When you see a long list of smaller schools broadcasting games on ESPN+ or ESPN3, those are not "ESPN productions." ESPN is simply providing the platform of ESPN+/ESPN3 to air the productions of smaller schools that otherwise would have no audience.

Howard had a 10 game home winning streak. This is why Power Conference teams don’t play games like this. They’ll be in the tournament. I love this team. They have a lot of talent.

The defense was frustrating to watch, but I'm relieved that the Bearcats pulled this one out. I don't know where this team will sit come March, but if they're on a bubble then "not losing" games like this are huge. At the same time, all road wins are nice to have.

Meanwhile I have to go take some ibuprofen - the TV production was so abysmal that it gave me a headache.

I don't think I have ever seen a game where there was no instant replay. I thought that being in the Big 12 would stop us from watching games with this kind of production. I understood when we were in the American.
