    Fran Fraschilla:

First time ever in Terre Haute for NIT Quart-finals between @GoBearcatsMBB & @IndStBasketball. LOVE watching Sycamores offense. It’s “Beilein on steroids!” Bearcats’ Jizzle James is on a Shead/Frank Mason trajectory with hard work.

Indiana State are 3.5-point favorites going into tonight.

ISU's only home loss of the season was a 80-67 defeat to Illinois State (KenPom #179) on February 13th. They shot a season-low 36.4% from the field and 21.1% from 3.

The bigs will have to continue making the good screens and we need good ball movement (His shots are often his making, but also a result of team play). The ISU team has studied the main play to get him open, so CWM will have to run some new ones. Just the threat of him might open up the inside where their 21 isn't at his best. CWM knows this and has planned. More lobs to Aziz and hopefully Reynolds and Vik feel like playing.

My exact thought. While a player must be ready to do whatever it takes, it always takes playing your role. On defense he rebounds and he a very good outlet pass. When there are 5 players 6 ft 10 or more, the goal is for them to get the major share. That frees SL for other things - like shooting, handling the ball and communicating. On defense (man to man) his guy is usually playing away from the basket.

Jizzle made a classy move at the end of the Bradley presser by extending his hand to Wes for a handshake, not a low 5. I think it was to thank Wes for having confidence in him. It startled Wes, didn't know what to do. He should have returned a hand shake which is much more personal than that slap, but.............just saying.

When I question Simas' handles, I'm just going on what I've seen - especially if/when he attempts to get into the paint. If he's hot, he's great (from outside). But if he misses his first few attempts, he stops shooting. I guess he loses confidence. Volume shooters can't stop. Newman went 0/10 and he's not a volume shooter, but he kept trying. Simas does have good floor vision which helps, but you don't want him at PG. And at 6'8", I want him banging the boards. Averaging 30 min/game he should have a lot more rebounds. I hope his 3 defense is hot tomorrow night.

Edit: to directly answer your question, yes. If a guy is hot and drawing double teams and getting in awkward situations all the time, it very likely means he has a high usage rate. Turnover rate is adjusted for usage rate. That's what makes it better than simply the raw number of turnovers.

I'm glad it's on ESPN proper and I'm hoping we get a proper camera crew as well and not whatever the Sycamores can cobble together on short notice.
ESPN games that are to start before the preceding game ends usually begin on ESPNNews (207 on DirecTV), then switch to ESPN after Game 1 ends.

For that you'd need a pay service like Synergy Sports, which I'm sure someone on UC's staff is using. They use play by play data, video, and even player tracking to come up with all kinds of interesting stats.

Back to our NIT opponent, Synergy says Indiana St is tied for third best shot selection in the country.

Another thin is what if his teammates don't pay attention when he has the ball and has to eat it or try to pass in an awkward situation. Would that change the stats. Having different defenders might. If that is the case if the ballhandler succeeds some of the time while not having the higher percentage due to different defenses set up, that may cause a difference in stats. So much to a game. Stats are good and it creates conversation, but they always don't produce wins.
