I watched a bit of the game. Just as with UC's game Friday night, it's early. There was a ton of transition play.

Here's the box score. As the Norwood Tech 3-point shooting shows, they were wide open. The Flyers appeared disjointed and not particularly athletic. They certainly don't have anyone like DeRon Holmes.

The Nicholls St game will be part of a self hosted MTE, the Twyman-Stokes Classic.

I think a lot of you here are familiar with the true life story behind this but if you’re not, head to GoBearcats or Google

This may not be much of a game, but future opponents Villanova host Columbia tonight at 7:00 via CBSSN. This Friday's victims, Morehead State, whom UofL clocked Monday night, play Boyce College, a small non-NCAA school from Louisville. I'll pass on that one.

Half: Columbia 39, Nova 37. Wildcats are having trouble defending the Lions, who move the ball really well and are a good outside shooting team. Columbia also have harassed Nova into seven turnovers, while committing only four themselves.

Eric Dixon, Nova forward, is a man. Very physical and can score at all three levels. He has 19 thus far (6/10 FG, 3/4 3Pt, 4/4 FT).

Final: Columbia 90, Nova 80. The Wildcats had no answers for the Lions.

I watched the North Florida game at GA Tech. Both teams have restocked with transfers, with the most notable being the Yellowjackets adding Javian McCollum, formerly of Oklahoma. Tech has some talented players, but the Ospreys carved them up (shooting 53.8%) while winning, 105-93. The Ospreys were wide open all day. This is UNF's second P5 upset, having taken down USCe, 74-71, in their opener.

The best way to describe the Jackets' defense today would be to adapt a line from the 1938 Oscar-winning comedy, You Can't Take It With You. The grandfather asks his granddaughter's ballet instructor how she's doing. The teacher replied, "Confidentially, she stinks."

Now, there's plenty time for Damon Stoudemire to get his team organized at that end, as well as in transition. If not, it's going to be a long season in the ACC.

NKU and GT are now listed as ESPN+ games. This saves you from having to figure out the Fanduel TV and ACCX networks.

Half: Nova 37, St. Joe 36. Pretty chippy. It's part of the Philly Big 5 (now 6) events. No love lost.

The game itself has been a bit disorganized. Lots of drive & kick, with some really poor lane denial.

Nova's defense is a mess. They didn't get back on transition and often failed to put in the effort needed to stop drivers. Their best player clearly is Eric Dixon (6'8", 265#). He can score at all three levels. He didn't get enough help tonight.
