Way-too-early Big 12 power rankings after heated transfer portal arms race

          https://247sports.com/longformarticl...tcu-231988676/

          UC at #6

          Projected starting lineup:

          G Jizzle James
          Wing Dan Skillings
          Wing Simas Lukosius
          F Dillon Mitchell
          C Aziz Bandaogo
Top bench options: G Day Day Thomas, G Connor Hickman, Wing Tyler Betsey, G CJ Frederick, F/C Arrinten Page

The scoop: Oh, baby. Cincinnati is a major threat to crash the top tier of the Big 12 pecking order after a strong offseason. Wes Miller kept the poachers away from most of his top dawgs, and he went into the transfer portal and addressed some of the biggest needs.

Cincinnati needed more shooting and another creator. Bradley transfer Connor Hickman can do that. Cincinnati lost one of its best offensive rebounders (Viktor Lakhin who transferred to Clemson), but Texas transfer Dillon Mitchell should solve that problem. Arrinten Page from USC fills the frontcourt depth void that Cincinnati lost with Jamille Reynolds bouncing for South Florida and Ody Oguama graduating.

As a result, Cincinnati has a little bit of everything.

It has two point guards in Day Day Thomas and Jizzle James (a big breakout candidate). It has terrific size. It has high-level athleticism and loads of roster flexibility. Playing two non-shooters like Aziz Bandaogo and Mitchell together could be a bit clunky, but the athletic pop, rebounding and rim protection is very real. Miller could effortlessly slide Lukosius down to the 4 and insert Hickman to map the floor a bit better.

Cincinnati went just 7-10 in games decided by five or fewer points last year. If they can flip the script in some of those nip-and-tuck wars, the Bearcats can be a real Big 12 player in 2024-25.

“ESPN Sources with @Draftexpress: Real Madrid’s Egor Demin — a projected 2025 NBA Draft lottery pick — has committed to BYU and coach Kevin Young for the 2024-‘25 season. Demin’s a highly skilled 6-9 Russian guard who’ll arrive as one of most talented recruits in program history.”

The other two Toppin brothers are in the NBA. This might be interesting to watch.

I googled it and said they were. However, Google has been full of **** since they added the AI search option to it. Who knows.

He's not related or at least they aren't siblings. His profile on New Mexico's site (https://golobos.com/roster/jadyn-toppin/) reads: Son of Naomi Toppin, Has three younger siblings.

Roni Toppin is the mother of the two in the NBA.
