UC is 11 in the first NET rankings

Jeff Goodman: “Cincinnati is ranked No. 11 in the NET despite an average opponent NET rank of 357 in the country.

The Bearcats have beaten Arkansas Pine Bluff (by 55 points), Morehead State (27), Nicholls (37), Northern Kentucky (16), Georgia Tech (23) and Alabama State (18) thus far.”

Our average opponent NET rank is 268.

The Big12 is lagging behind the SEC and BigTen in the NET rankings. The conference as a whole has struggled.

Just win on the court and let the rankings just be fodder for those who are bored. Talk about the games. If you win on the court, things will be just fine.

I will talk about rankings in the rankings thread and games in the game threads.

Meanwhile Xavier, his fav school, is 103 and is somehow 7-1. I think BearcatMark mentioned on Twitter that Goodman pulled this same crap with Iowa St vs. X last year and The NET rankings on Iowa St turned out to be accurate in the long term.

The NET Rankings are fairly useless this early and I think I saw Eyan Miyakawa say so today. Too early to be looking at NET.

Nice to see UC move up to #14. It's a joke that (3) teams have (3) losses and still remain in the Top 25.

                      UCONN
                      Houston
                      NC

All with 3 losses, and I do understand that all of those teams have wins against other Top 25 teams. But with (8) games into the season, and (3) losses already, not sure how they justify keeping them in the Top 25.

Bold prediction: A loss to either Dayton or X and UC will never see the top 25 again
Granted UCONN has 3 losses and some injuries but so did Baylor (key player out) and UCONN managed to win - never underestimate a champion!

I didn't think we would drop 8 spots.

Yeah a lot of the polling is about the teams around you and who you've played, We've played GT and Villanova. Villanova is the better of the two and we lost. I don't feel like it's a bad loss considering it's on the road. The entire Big East /Big 12 challenge had the home team winning every game until last night when OK state decked Seton Hall. The Hall is in free fall this season so far and has been decked a few times.

Yeah. I agree with you. The Villanova loss, on the road, will not be a bad loss. Villanova probably rediscovered themselves with the UC win. Their very next game, VU beat Temple by 29. So, Villanova may have a lot to say before the season is over with.
