Not too concerned about the effort put forth by the team in the last few minutes as it was a blowout. But I am concerned about the sloppy passes and the inability for us to run out a offense against this team for almost the entire game. The tendency to just jack up threes reared it's ugly head last night and that is a habit we do not want to get back into. Here's hoping this was just a "three point shooting contest between these two teams.Last edited by Rufus; 11-28-2024, 08:22 AM.

I have think this is a mental preparation issue with Mitchell. He's got the yips or somethingLast edited by Lobot; 11-28-2024, 05:51 PM.Brent Wyrick

In Millers presser he said Ala was baiting them to shoot threes which our guys "took " said bait. I referred to as a pi$$ing contest in an earlier post before I watched the presser. All I know is they came out from the get go playing hero ball as Leo calls it, and not working their typical offense. We have a more competent opponent next so we will get a better handle on what this team is about

Jizzle takes player of the game for the second consecutive outing, putting up 6.4 net points. He was good on both sides of the ball. 12 points from the field on only 9 shots with only two midrange attempts. Simas, Aziz, Mitchell, and Page also had solid games with BPMs above 10. Page was our best defender.
Hickman had the worst game with negative 7 net points, joining Betsey and Rayvon as poor performers.
Day Day went 3 of 4 from deep but also turned it over 4 times with no assists.
The best player overall was Alabama State's Amarr Knox who put up 8.7 net points, scoring an efficient 24 points with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

The offense wasn't that bad. We got to the rim 27 times, which hero ball or not is a recipe for efficiency. We scored 48 in the first half and had 71 with 6 minutes left before we ran out the second unit.
Mitchell is under 50% on free throws in his career. I don't think he's going to become a good FT shooter no matter what the staff does.

Mitchell is the only player among those who have shot a decent number of free throws who is struggling. Even Aziz, who was problematic at best at the line last year, is 9/12. Arrinten Page is 15/20. Bigs who attack the glass are going to get fouled. The Cats not named Mitchell are 48/67 (71.6%). If I'm an opposing coach, I'm fouling Mitchell at every chance, until he proves he can correct the problem.
Even Rayvon, who has not shown an ability to shoot during the run of play, is 5/5 at the line.
