Mitchell was our best player, putting up 6.2 net points. He scored an efficient 8 points from the field, going 4 for 5 at the rim with no turnovers and grabbed 10 boards, our only player with more than 5. He was also our best defender with a 7.5 defensive BPM, 2 steals, a block, and only one foul in 33 minutes. Aziz led in offensive BPM, limiting himself to 4 successful dunks and adding 3 offensive boards and an assist with no turnovers. Day Day and Dan had solid defensive games.
Jizzle was by far the worst player on the court with negative 8.9 net points in only 25 minutes. 0 for 11 from the field, and 8 of those were from midrange. He also turned it over 3 times and was our only regular with a negative defensive BPM.
Luckily our interior defense was very good, a welcome sight after Villanova. We held Xavier to 50% at the rim, and contested everything except fast breaks and broken plays off of loose balls. And we only allowed them to rebound 27% of their misses. Great job controlling the paint. We held them to just 0.93 points per possession.
Mitchells FT shot looks fixable to me. He brings the the ball all the way behind his head. That's way too much motion for a free throw. I think if they can get him to practice a short, repeatable stroke he might be able to convert at least 60%.
