He didn't play a perfect game, but he was what the Cats needed when few were contributing. He ran the offense for a bit and it resulted in points. He rebounded and was possibly the best defender. Most of al,l he was calm and played basketball. That is floor leadership which is so lacking among the so called better players. I am glad he is here and if he fizzles out the rest of the year, he was a major part in beating X. Good job.
Well said, and couldn’t agree more. Made a comment to the wife at one point late in the second half when I saw Mitchell sprinting back on defense and you could see him calling to his teammates to get back, maybe directing traffic a little. Told her that reminded me of KMart a little back in the day (not that I’m saying he’s on the level overall, don’t shoot!). I REALLY like that young man!

And Hickman was solid as well. Feel like he’d been down a little lately, and he was able to achieve some redemption yesterday. Good for him.

    Let’s go, Cats. Beat Dayton!

    • Yesterday's UC-X game probably was one of the best UC games I have ever seen. They reminded me of one of the old Bearcat teams that used to win when they had bad scoring nights. UC had a hard time scoring throughout the game. However, at the 7:46 mark of the second half, UC went on a 22-12 run to end the game. UC held Xavier for 2:10 without scoring during the run to give UC the edge.

The TV executives that decided NOT to broadcast the game nationally, truly missed out on a great college basketball game yesterday. A very entertaining game even with all of the BONE- HEADED mistakes by UC players.

We all bash Coach Miller all of the time for his losses, but you got to give him credit for having UC READY TO PLAY yesterday. It did not always go well, but Coach Miller had UC basketball ready to play.

I watched a replay last night. It was really really close. We’d have been angry as **** if it was called.

We had recruits there yesterday, and I hope anybody considering UC saw this. Being a Bearcat is special, an honor unlike almost anywhere else. Watching the replay, it sounded loud, to be there was absolutely crazy, my voice hasn’t recovered yet.

I came here today to comment on Mitchell's post game comments and how stoked he was to play this game. It was just a sincere, non-stereotypical post game interview that highlighted his joy. He seems to simultaneously play extremely hard yet like a kid getting to do his most favorite thing ever. I wonder for our players if yesterday becomes the spark for our own 4-5 year run against X.

I really appreciated his owning it with a hearty "Definitely" when asked if he left early. So often, players will try to be all cagey and dodge the question. I thought it was cool that he just was like,"Yep. I did that".

                  • Zach Freemantle out indefinitely with a lower body injury suffered during the Shootout.

Not certain this is an NCAA Tournament team with him, but if he's out for a long time then I have a hard time seeing XU doing much without him.

                    • Do we know when he got hurt? He didn't look hurt in the second half as far as I could tell.

They believe it occurred with about four minutes left when ZF tried to stop a lob and fell hard to the floor. He limped around for a while after that, but stayed in the game.

From about that point, his name appears only three times in the play-by-play. He had a TO at 2:15, an assist at 1:50, and the missed trey at the horn.

Yep back injury. I remember that. He took a while to get right after falling on the floor flat

Sean Miller said tonight that it's a knee injury of some sort. Too much swelling at this point for an MRI.

                            • If L'm not mistaken he also got called for a foul when he hit the floor hard. Tough luck for him. Why in the world would he glare at and mouth off to Kenyon Martin?

I think he did that after making a 3. Karma that he missed a wide open 3 to send game to overtime.
