I liked the pass to an open SL better than the 3 by CJ . The pass fooled ASU and they didn't recover quick enough.

Groovy - now work on the half court offense.

Glad to have another W but man nothing is easy with this group. Keep stacking those wins no matter how ugly.

Another Q2 win (for now), but certainly not one that is going to move the needle in the right direction for our metrics.

I don't see an NCAA tournament team at the moment.

                  Winning streak

Next up a date with Texas Tech who just clobbered Arizona. Big opportunity.

The beer always tastes better after a win. So far UC is 4-0 when wearing new uniforms. Also, this is UC's first time winning consecutive conference games since joining the BIG XII.

Gmann I have a suspicion that every win we get is going to come ugly.

Both of those wins were not in the conference last season.

Well said. And he has good spacing which helps create space for our more athletic guys to attack the rim. There was a play today where ASU jumped out to defend CJ while someone (forget who off hand) attacked the rim for an easy bucket.

While the offense still needs to be a lot more efficient, the Bearcats' defense is elite, not just good. After the game, when kenpom.com and barttorvik.com updated the data, the Cats moved up to #6 and #7, respectively, in the country in defensive efficiency. The Sun Devils came in shooting 37.1% from the arc on the season. UC held them to 6/22 (27.3%).

There is no team with a perfect defense. Even the Cyclones had issues tonight in their loss at WV. All of the B12 teams have outstanding players. Today, it happened to be Jayden Quaintance, who is a great player, especially at the age of 17. He's headed to being a lottery pick after the 2025-26 season.

That said, the Bearcats will need to step up their game Tuesday night against the Red Raiders, who throttled AZ in Lubbock today, 70-54. UC must find a way to avoid scoring droughts.

We finally scored a point per possession in conference, but just barely. 67 points in 66 possessions. We got to the rim 28 times compared to just 10 midrange attempts. That's the recipe for success, and we needed it today since we weren't pulling down offensive boards at or normal rate. We were bad on the defensive glass too, as Arizona St grabbed 40% of their misses. But we held them to just 43% at the rim and forced 14 turnovers.

Mitchell was the player of the game with 4.7 net points. He scored an efficient 12 points from the field on 10 shots and added 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals. Simas was second best with 2.5 net points - he had 4 steals!

Reed was our worst player with negative 1.6 net points. His defense was pretty good but he had an awful negative 12.1 offensive BPM. He's not a good pairing with CJ. Can't have two guys on the floor who are no threat to drive in addition to the center. Day Day/Skillings/Reed/Mitchell/Page works well. Day Day/CJ/Reed/Mitchell/Page does not. CJ plays much better along with Simas - defenses have to focus a lot of attention on the perimeter when they are both out there. Reed and Skillings make a good pair that can dominate the glass.

Respectfully, I am not sure that I understand your comment. However, what I am saying is that Cincinnati did not win two consecutive games at all in the conference last year. Winning the two games (Colorado and Arizona State) back-to-back is a first for the school in BIG XII conference play. I think that Colorado and Arizona State not being in the conference last year has nothing to do with it.
