As they showed the old interview of Oscar, I was reminded of your new son. Congratulations, we hope you’re getting some sleep!
I couldn't agree more! The Young Man had a double/double... and the 10rbs IMO were huge! If that's a bad game, I'll take it the rest of the year!

I agree. I didn't mean for Aziz to become the focus of my post, haha. He didn't come close to having the worst game. I just mentioned him in the group of players who had negative net points, meaning the stats indicate he had a negative impact to our final scoring margin. But it was very slight, less than 2 points - almost neutral. One way to consider Aziz's impact is to look at his counterpart Lawson Lovering, who scored 14 points on only 9 shots and had 4 assists. That's a very efficient game. So Aziz played hard, but it wasn't a great matchup for him. There were a couple plays where he fell out of bounds and got beat down the floor. That's not his fault, he was hustling and he probably got fouled on at least one of those plays. But Utah was able to take advantage in the end, which they weren't able to do when we went small.

This is a good test case for advanced metrics. Traditional stats say Aziz had a great game because he had a double double. Advanced metrics dig deeper and show that he still struggled overall. Everyone is free to form their own opinion using all or none of the numbers.

This was a good grind-it-out win for UC. At the same time, this game was somewhat of a shootout. Most definitely, this game was NOT defensive. UC's defense was bad all game long. Utah hit 31 shots and also hit 13 threes. Gabe Madsen hit for almost 30 points (28). Hey, any win in the BIG XII is a good win. There were two big surprises that influenced the outcome of the game. One, UC's bench outscored Utah's bench 28-12, and two, UC outperformed Utah on the free throw line 14-19 to 0-3.

Unsung hero Josh Reed had a monster game. I bet you that the coaches from Utah did not see Reed on the scouting report. Also, Aziz pulled down some very impressive rebounds last night, yeah! He was the man on the boards. Nobody else puled downed more rebounds. It is apparent that UC has a number of guys that can hit for double figures on any given night. I contend that UC needs 4 guys in double figures (scoring) every game to win. Miller needs to play Griffith more in live action. That is how players develop. Griffith appears to have a good shooting eye. However, his defense needs to improve. It is difficult for players to develop if they do not play. Hint: Josh Reed (should have been playing a long time ago).

Lastly, during this 3-game win streak, UC has won 5 (five) out of 6 (six) halves of basketball. Whatever magic UC has found, I truly hope that it can keep it going. On to Iowa State.

ray played 3 minutes v. BYU and only two against Utah. They were all in the first half- This isn't enough to develop Ray.
