I would be shocked only in that Miller would give the point to someone other than JJ but it would also be welcomed I think by a lot of fans. Don't get me wrong I think JJ could be a good ball player if he gets out of his own way but just not at PG. I've had my fill of players shooting the trey and then showing the last three digits on their hand as they come back down the floor. And making huge amounts of money doing it. I long for a ball player like a Eric Hicks or Pete Mikeal, Danny fortson, or B Brannen who would fight teeth and nail for the rebound of a missed shot go back up with three guys hanging on them and they still get the basket. They just would not be denied. I would much rather see a guy like a Jason Kidd make unbelievable passes to the open man under the basket for a lay up any day rather than five guys competing on who is going to take the three point shot. I was trying to explain to my son in law why Sampson of Houston modeled his teams like the old bearcat thugs of yesteryear. That of course is jmho

I actually hope so.. it would be an indication that CWM is ACTIVELY revamping this roster.. an acknowledgement that it MUST change

One last thought, is it possible some of these players were not asked to come back?

I still expect Page in the portal, I somewhat expect Reed in the portal. I do NOT expect Mitchell in the portal.

Dan is in the portal because he and Wes weren't seeing eye to on things. The rumor was that Wes said one thing to him and did another and Dan was not OK with that.

Regardless of the injury to Dan, I think he was either not on board with Wes or pressing too hard and maybe distracted by off court stuff. He's 20 something whaddya gonna do?

You know, could it be that players are tired of losing. That is one good reason for a player to want to transfer. Miller has not shown that he knows how to win. Players can pick up on the capabilities of a coach. Maybe Reed, Skillings, and Griffith want to go to programs that have coaches that know how to win. If you were a player, would you hang in there with Miller?

Per NY Post's Zach Braziller, UC among the schools to reach out to Alabama sophomore forward Mouhamed Dioubate (7.2 and 5.9)

You got to be joking. Then again, UC has given up a lot of points over the last 3 years. Skillings was a big part of the problem.

For three years he's promised we're going to run both ends of the floor but every year we see guys walk the ball up, dribble around trying to pass to the three guys standing around the perimeter until the clock starts winding down and then all five stand and watch the trajectory of the ball. And if the shot goes in we get to see the lucky shooter flash the trey sign. In Millers offense you don't need no stinking rebounders.
Good point Rufus. Thomas and James, especially James, are not exactly interested at getting their teammates involved with the offense. Thomas and James are more interested in scoring than working the ball around to find the open shot or the best shot. I can see how that would rub some players the wrong way. Also, when Thomas and James are in the lineup, they routinely take an overwhelming amount of the shots. That could also rub some players the wrong way.

I should be clear that I'm not convinced by Miya's rating system. He adjusts BPM for opponent and teammate strength which is too much mumbo jumbo even for me, haha. He has Simas as a better defender than Reed, and that just doesn't pass the smell test. There have been several other discrepancies over the years. I think raw BPM is best and it's been around along time, tried and true.
I am in agreement. If UC can hang on to Mitchell with Harris coming in will give UC a nice defensive presence. The problem is scoring.

To be clear it is possible someone could hit the portal and return, particularly someone liked Rayvon. Not saying I'm counting on it, but some guys will hit the portal and come back -- heck, just happened with KU's Flory Bidunga, a guy who would have been more coveted than the likes of Reed, Griffith

Don't be shocked if Kriisa gets significant time at point and they move Jizzle off the ball to the 2 spot. Kriisa is a much better passer than Jizzle or Day Day. No point paying big $ for a scoring big, then your guards won't or can't feed him the ball. This does assume Kriisa is healthy. Kriisa played starter minutes at point for 2 years at Arizona and 1 year at WVa.

I'm disappointed both Reed and Griffith are transferring, I didn't think we'd keep both, but figured one of the two would stay. I wonder if that means Sencire Harris was brought in to play the wing. If Wes's message was Sencire is a wing and we expect him to be ahead of both of you in the rotation, I can see why they'd move on. They are both at the point in the career they'd be expecting to at least be fighting for a starting role and between Sencire and Abaev, Wes may have told them 5-10 minutes per game is more likely.

Chad mentioned in a recent podcast that Mitchell didn't renew the lease on his apartment in Cincinnati and Mitchell's girlfriend moved back to Texas. He seems to very much expect Mitchell not to be back.

Seems like Day Day and Jizzle may be the only two familiar faces on next years team. We've gone from win by retaining and developing players to reset and rebuild through the transfer portal.
