I was of the mindset many weeks ago that terminating Wes would actually be more affordable than what’s going to happen across the next year. I see no reason to believe that UC won’t be anything other than an afterthought in the B12 (both football & basketball) with these coaches. For a guy that can’t develop players and has very poor in game ability, the likelihood that next year is any different is pretty hard to imagine. Can UC really afford a return to 1980’s basketball? These players-while probably overly focused on money-can see what’s going on with Wes.Last edited by Bearcat93; 04-08-2025, 07:08 PM.

Who says they aren't acting in the best interest of the players? Getting paid an extra $100k is certainly in the players interest. Loyalty isn't going to trump $100k or more for most players, it wouldn't for most of us either. It's free agency every year and entering the transfer portal is generally more likely to result in a pay raise.Originally posted by longtimefan View PostIt’s just getting harder and harder to shell out season ticket dough, and then root for a bunch of guys with one foot out the door. It seems two things have accelerated the problem to this level, in addition to guys getting paid. First, the transfer rule requiring a one year sit out was overturned. Second, allowing these guys to have agents. While the NCAA stated agents would be required to act in the best interest of the players, we know that’s simply not always the case. It’s where we are. I was once a HUGE baseball fan, now I no longer care about it or follow it; and the situation with college athletics is even worse.
I don't blame the players, I have no issue with them getting paid. The NCAA completely botched it by refusing to change until courts forced the issue. Now we need contracts and collective bargaining, but the NCAA is still refusing to be proactive. It's coming eventually, I just hope the pay-to-win era is a short one.

Their agents are sorting through their options and contacting as many viable programs as possible (which likely has been in progress for almost all of them already). There's no rush for any of them, barring a potential school recruiting the same position.Originally posted by BearKatz View PostI find one thing interesting? Lot's of opportunity out there! what are they waiting for?

This is "testing the market" to me. Who will pay me more than Cincinnati? Maybe he will compare offers to what UC can do to retain him. Or, he just says he will consider staying. Who knows?Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostDillon Mitchell >>> Transfer Portal

Would you take a chance on Sam?
Sam Onu 0.9000 7-0 / 265
Has a strong physique and an athletic based game. Plays with aggression and energy. Does his damage around the basket offensively. Gets to the rim quickly. Limited skill wise on the perimeter at this point. Has potential to be a strong defender who can move his feet and block shots.
Sounds like a presence we could use around the rim!

I take that as these players do not want to invest in themselves to make the dance.Originally posted by Bearcats1232002 View Post
And I don't think he will turn it around. Maybe these players have a feeling that this will be Miller's last season and don't want to invest time in a sinking ship?
