Ugonna Onyensu in the portal from KState. There's a rim protector. He could be a good value. Metrics say he's highly productive (4.9+ BPM all three years) but he's not getting playing time for some reason.

Good point. Is there anything such as APR anymore? As it is a player could transfer in, take a minimum load for one semester, and be gone again. Are there any academic requirements left?Originally posted by sedz View PostEveryone didn't stay last year. Lakhin, Reynolds, and Tolentino left.
More and more players are entering the portal each year across the league. The NCAAs attempts to limits transfers were struck down in court. I think that's the only real difference. Every player can shop around for money or minutes.

That was my question as well. These guys can't be getting anything resembling an education and we're not even trying to cover that up anymore. What a joke!Originally posted by longtimefan View Post

Thiam is a rim protector I'd be happy to bring on board. He posted an impressive 3.1 BPM as a freshman and showed maturity with a low turnover rate and under 4 fouls per 40 minutes. He also showed nice touch for 7'2, converting 49% on twos away from the rim. I think he'd be a great complement to Haynes. Lots of upside. Thiam improved as the season went on, recording a 4.7 BPM in B12 play.Originally posted by Bearcatattack View Post

I read somewhere on THIS thread that Mitchell committed to St. Johns. I did not go back and check to determine if that was true or not. Is it? I just checked the St. Johns' website. There is no mention of Mitchell at all. Not sure where that news came from, but I never checked it for myself.Originally posted by sedz View PostMitchell hasn't committed yet as far as I know. Griffith's contacts were listed here last week. Betsey doesn't have an agent I think, so no one to leak contacts. Not sure about Reed but any coach that values analytics will like his defense. Things are happening even if the public doesn't hear about it.
Usually, the information on these threads is pretty reliable. Can never be too sure until you are.Last edited by leeraymond; 04-15-2025, 09:25 AM.

It's not. There are a handful of trustworthy sources and I'd suggest sticking to those. In our sphere we have BearcatJournal and BearcatBunch. On social media there's Jon Rothstein, Joe Tipton, DuShawn London, Jamie Shaw, and Trilly Donovan. VerbalCommits is the best place to track portal status. If you see something from other sources, it's probably either a rumor or a troll.Originally posted by leeraymond View Post

Very good point. Typically, when a student transfers, there are class credits that are lost or that do not transfer. All of these transfers must be putting players behind academically. The NCAA has yet to address this issue publicly. Are players interested in getting degrees at all anymore? Most will not go pro. What will they do for money?Originally posted by Gmann View Post

Yeah. I saw the schools that were interested in Griffith.Originally posted by sedz View PostMitchell hasn't committed yet as far as I know. Griffith's contacts were listed here last week. BearcatBunch added Kevin Overton to their portal tracker, 6'5 sophomore wing from Texas Tech. Overton posted a 2.1 BPM with no major strengths or weaknesses. A decent all around player on both sides of the ball. Mostly a catch and shoot three point shooter at 33%.

Yeah. Other than Bearcatnews, I am not on social media. So, I miss that entire aspect of obtaining basketball information. I am aware of BearcatJournal and BearcatBunch. Thanks just the same.Originally posted by sedz View PostIt's not. There are a handful of trustworthy sources and I'd suggest sticking to those. In our sphere we have BearcatJournal and BearcatBunch. I have not found a source that Thiam has entered the portal. It may be true but I can’t confirm that. If someone has a link to that please furnish.Originally posted by sedz View PostThiam is a rim protector I'd be happy to bring on board.
